I prefer low and/or dark fantasy GURPS games reminiscent of Erikson or Martin. I like GURPS for the realistic rendering, complexity, while still being able to introduce cinematic and fantastic powers. I like combat in my games, but not exclusively. Dungeon crawling without a good plot is good for 2-3 sessions, but an integrated story arc makes the game fun for the long term.
I've played quite a few over the past 20 years, with the most experience in D&D (original), AD&D 1st ed. through 3.5, Call of Cuthulu, Mage, Earthdawn, Cyberpunk, Shadowrun...and of course GURPS. I'm 35, married and move around a lot, so very flexible with new house rules etc.
