What are you looking for?

Looking for the chance to to have an open-ended game (no GM railroading or cliche "we're all destined to save the world--no matter how incompetent we are" type storylines), interesting worlds, interesting characters and sensible (e.g. creative) combat wherein you can fight monsters in ways other than run up and hit them with a broadsword over and over again.

I've played GURPs (by far my favorite system), and some one-shot D&D and Rifts. I'm always up for trying new systems if the game itself is good.

I will GM if a group needs it, but it will be in GURPs as that is the only system I feel comfortable enough with to GM in.I've been kicking around the idea of an alternate-history type campaign, heavy on politics and seafaring adventures, set in a world where the U.S. didn't achieve independence in 1776 and quasi-industrial mining of magic fueled the colonial ambitions of the big European Powers. If this sounds interesting to anybody, happy to flesh the idea out (feel free to offer ideas if you have them.)

I'm equally comfortable as a player in someone else's game or GMing the above idea (or something else entirely!)
