Ah yes, the Persian Gulf region. And to think back on that is where I first played in an RPG in 1991 during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

From a layman's perspective, based on the conversation so far, it would seem that the only essential difference between wfrp, and something like d&d, is the "high" fantasy. Wfrp sounds like it aims for a more gritty realistic fantasy: it starts you off as an average Joe, and finishes as a somewhat...

"brick" for a tough, strong, combatant type. typical supers archetypes are: brick, speedster, flyer, blaster, mage, sneak (invisible typically), telekinetic, metamorper, elemental (light, dark, fire, ice, water, metal, wood, etc), ghost, mentalist, cosmic, mythical, animalist, naturalist, and...

a living spell that is the combination of the fragments of magical remains of the more edible magical stuff? maybe combine it with a spirit / the spirits of those who actually died? if you want uber-evil-creepy, give it a child personality and have it reprimand the undead for various things a child...

Arcanum Syndicate is now a part of the GPG (Game Publisher's Guild) and will soon be releasing the kickstarter for a new dark fantasy RPG called Demon Gate. What we wanted to do with this game is bring back some of the old art styles of like Savage Sword of Conan comics and just put in a great deal...

Why won't you play online? You live far away and you mentioned Star Trek RPGs in your profile.

Despite the troubles you've had with me as of late. I always admired you for these boards. What I said to you the other night in chat..about finding some really good friends on here..it was the honest truth. Sorry for the troubles I caused and I wish you well with your games. You take care
  3. I'm familiar with the original World of Darkness. I haven't played using the Story Teller system in something like twelve years.

Congratz on becoming amember of the GM panel. It states that you are experienced with World of Darkness. I'm not familiar with it, but it sounds very interesting

Hi, I was wondering if there is a way I can completely delete my profile? There is nothing wrong with the site, but I have a group now and no longer need a profile.

    Thanks.

Indeed! It looks like I'll be joining in on the game that Valdar is putting together. I've also started lurking in the D&D forum.

My buddy Jay calls it "Garry Peach" because I use it so much. It is eye easy. And no, I'm not totally happy with the look, I'm still playing with it.

The Gatekeeper Campaign Log

by Farcaster on 10-14-2011 at 07:14 PM
I kicked off a new campaign about a year and a half ago called "The Gatekeeper," and I have had the extremely good fortune of having a published WotC designer and author at the table with us, Mr. Erik Scott de Bie. Erik, I have come to find out, is a tenacious writer. In the first few weeks of our game, he actually sent me more post game followup than all my players combined have sent me in the following year.

So, I asked him if he'd focus that insatiable pen of his towards

The Year of Blue Fire: Gearing Up

by Farcaster on 12-13-2010 at 02:52 PM
So, our first game for the Year of Blue Fire campaign is coming up this Friday. Iíve got the basic concept together for the first adventure, but I still need to sit down and stat out potential encounters and spend some time jotting down key locations and information. I usually work well under pressure and it is a first level game, so Iím not too worried about it.

Iíve decided to try out logging the campaign on Obsidian Portal. I created a campaign there last night. So far, Iíve only

The Year of Blue Fire - Campaign Background

by Farcaster on 11-22-2010 at 04:14 PM
I am starting up another campaign soon. I may be a little crazy for trying to run two games simulateously and "assist-DM" in a third, but I just couldn't resist when my buddy asked me to run a game for a group he was putting together.

Unlike most games I have run in the past, I'm not coming to the table with a campaign idea already in hand. Instead, I am working with the players to create their backgrounds and then I am going to build the campaign organically from their

Have you checked out d20Pro?

by Farcaster on 04-22-2010 at 03:58 PM
d20pro pushed out an update today. Version 2.1 is out of beta and available for download.

You know, I recently ran a 4th edition demo game using d20pro. It's actually a pretty sweet little app for running remote games, and even for using as a digital replacement for your battlemat at your regular face-to-face games as well. It was designed specifically for the d20 OGL ruleset and has a set of plugins to integrate nicely with Pathfinder. There are also patches for 4th edition, and

Why I'm Starting to Consider the iPad...

by Farcaster on 03-01-2010 at 11:00 AM
A few short weeks ago when the iPad was first announced, I was not among the throng of excited Apple groupies who had already made up their minds before Steve Jobs took one step onto the podium that I would be buying this device no matter what it did. I've never quite understood the mentality of if it has XYZ sticker, I simply must have it, and that extends to the iWhatever-the-Hell-They-Come-Up-with-Next. I was a late adopter to the iPod, simply because I never wanted to spend
