Check out this article by Mike Mearls. I think we all pretty new this was coming sooner rather than later. What amazes me is that this news rose to the level of being covered by the NY Times. Impressive!

What are your thoughts about a new edition? Love it, hate it? Personally, I'm just glad they are keeping the brand alive.

I kicked off a new campaign about a year and a half ago called "The Gatekeeper," and I have had the extremely good fortune of having a published WotC designer and author at the table with us, Mr. Erik Scott de Bie. Erik, I have come to find out, is a tenacious writer. In the first few weeks of our game, he actually sent me more post game followup than all my players combined have sent me in the following year.

So, I asked him if he'd focus that insatiable pen of his towards chronicling our sessions so that we'd have a place our players could go back and reference past games. Erik, of course, took this to the next level and made more of an adventure log that anyone could follow. Now, if you're interested in reading about our bi-weekly paragon tier, planar adventure, you can check it out on Obsidian Portal at http://www.obsidianportal.com/campai.../adventure-log. Maybe it'll give you an idea for your own game?

If you enjoy it, please drop a note and let us know, and be sure to become a "Fan," so that you will be automatically updated when new logs are available... By the way, he's written up all our sessions to date, but the published content so far is only up to the first 10 games. That is to say, there's a lot more to come.

Oh! And you can also follow our sessions live via Twitter on Erik's feed.

Congratulations! As of today, Pen & Paper Games has attracted over fifteen thousands players to join our community. That's an amazing accomplishment considering we only opened our doors some four and a half years ago or so with very little advertising at all. And you, the community here at P&PG, have a lot to do with that. In the last year, right after referrals from Google, "Friend" has been the top referral source for new members who find P&PG. That says a lot, and I thank you all!

ID:	3266Greetings, all!

I've been working with Wolfgang Baur recently on some web related projects. For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to meet Wolfgang before, he's the "Kobold-in-Chief" for Open Design LLC and the editor-in-chief for the Kobold Quarterly magazine. He's also an immanently approachable, all around nice guy. So, when I hit him up about passing on some sweet discounts to our members here at P&PG, he was more than amenable. (score!)

Until the end of this week, March 19th, you can save 50% off your subscription to Kobold Quarterly!

Award-winning Kobold Quarterly gives you great 4E D&D and Pathfinder options, adventures, maps, and monsters---and now you can pick up a PDF subscription for half the cover price, just $12 per year. Or if you love having the issue show up at your door, subscribe to the printed edition, and you can order a free PDF of any back issue.

Just include code P4N+P4P3R in the discounts field during checkout to take advantage of the PDF subscription at half price, or use FR33PDF for the free back issue with any print+PDF subscription. (Please, new subscriptions only.)

    This offer ends March 19!

Your subscription starts with the current issue and includes the 100-page Summer issue. So, get on over there and subscribe today!

You may have noticed a few changes to the forums in the last few weeks. A couple forums, like the Product Reviews & Discussions section have been merged with others, while other have been retired completely. I've also moved the Player Registry, and Campaign Invitations to the very top of the forum list, highlighting one of the chief purposes of the site and making it easier for new folks to figure out and navigate. The overall goal is to streamline the forums and make it easier for people to find the content they are looking for. To that end, if you have any suggestions, please send them my way.

Also this month, the forums have gotten a few minor, but very cool, upgrades...

    Member Profile Page Customization
Yep, the ability to customize your profile is back. This feature disappeared some time ago when we moved to vBulletin 4, but they have finally got it back in. You can check it out by clicking on the "Customize Profile" button when viewing your profile. Please, for the love of all things holy, try not to make anything too ... gaudy.

    What's New Changes
One thing that has bothered me for a long time is that when you use the "What's New?" button on the navbar, it would only show new posts by default and never any different content types together. With these latest updates, finally, What's New? will behave like it should, giving you a list of all new posts, articles, and blogs. You can also configure the What's New feed to show you the latest group messages by going to your Settings > General Settings and changing the User Customization options -- near the bottom. There you can add or remove different content types from the What's New feed.

    Facebook Integration

This is probably one of the coolest new features. You can now link your P&PG account with your Facebook login. Once you've connected your accounts up, your logins will automatically be synched. If you are logged into Facebook, you can automatically log in to P&PG by clicking the Facebook Connect button at the top right of the header. You'll also be able to automatically post status updates when you post a new blog, article, comment, or post. I've tried it out, and I definitely like it.

While you're messing around in Facebook, by the way, be sure to stop by and "Like" our P&PG Facebook page at www.facebook.com/penandpapergames. This is a great way to be able to get updates about the latest news here at P&PG directly in your Facebook feed. Then please spread the word by suggesting our page to your friends.

    Thanks all and enjoy!

Looking for a clean and easy way to access the Pen & Paper Games forums from your iPhone or Android cell phone? You can now visit the forums using an application called Tapatalk. I've been running this application on my Android phone for the last week, and it's pretty sweet. Once you have the application installed on your device, you can find our forums under the Games > Tabletop / Roleplaying Games category.

You can find out more about the application over at the Tapatalk website.
