WotC and the Amazon Kindle

Perhaps I just missed the big announcement, but it looks like Wizards of the Coast quietly slipped a toe in to test the waters with publishing on the Amazon Kindle. The other night, I was browsing for suggested books on my Kindle, when what to my wandering eyes would appear? Four Forgotten Realms books by R.A. Salvatore available since October this year: The Pirate King, The Orc King, Road of the Patriarch, and Promise of the Witch King.

This is great news for Forgotten-Realms-reading Kindle owners! Here's for hoping that they end up with amazing sales!

    It doesn't look like game publishers and hand held devices are walking together to a brighter future yet. Between a poor support of pdf format and pdf files that are either dedicated to printing or monitors, I can't see an obvious solution for the RPG hand held library yet.

    Tagging has been around for a long time, and it is time for companies to start tagging their PDF documents for reflow into other formats. This has been coming for a long time, and publishers are missing out on technology that delivers content to readers.
    Text books and RPG manuals could benefit from a portable device. However, the Kindle was designed for you to curl up with a good book the instant you need it, and does an excellent job.

    Well, I don't think their gaming manuals would work well on the Kindle because of the size factor. However, I was hoping that they would start releasing their novels on it.
