Hey, Hey, Pizza Man

So yesterday when I arrived at the game shop for my game I was accosted by a bearded middle aged pizza man with beady eyes. I figured he wanted to try and sell me a pizza, as at least two or three show up every game night trying to sell some pizza to us hungry nerds. No, it turned out he wanted to sell some gaming books. He was down on his luck and needed money to pay bills. So I told him I didn't have any money and wasn't interested. I figured he had some old stuff that I didn't really want, but he said that he had some of the new 4e books. So I changed my mind and told him that I would take a look at what he had. It turns out that he had all 4e D&D stuff, all of the 4e D&D material published so far. Every book, every module, every DT set and about 40 miniatures. He said he would sell it all to me for $100.00.
I really hate being poor. I had all of $5.00 to my name last night. I would have liked to have bought everything from the guy. It would have been a great deal. As it was, I talked him into selling me the FR Players Guide for $5.00. A very good deal by any measure. Though, if I had been thinking, I would have went to an ATM and withdrew the $100.00 dollars from our account, even though that money was earmarked for my sons medications that I had to pay for today. Then took the books to a second game store across town, that buys used books. They pay half list value for RPG books in near new condition like all of these were. I could have easily made my $100.00 dollars back in less than 30 minutes and still had a half dozen or more new books plus DT's, mini's and modules.
Yep I wanted to kick myself in the ass all night long for giving the guy directions to the other store, and not taking advantage of the guy. I don't know if the stuff really belonged to the guy or if he stole it, but I missed a good chance to make some money. Sure I got a good deal, but I missed the chance to make the greatest deal of all time!
