Jororked Forgefire

Week 15 - The big finish.

Our last episode of Fury of the Wastewalker found us face to face with our antagonist who has chased us across a desert just because he couldn't tell the difference between a psionic and a wizard. Someone get that guy an insider account already. As was common much throughout my Jarvix experience I found myself short on hit points and out of healing surges. My plan in these situations is quite simple: fire everything off and find a corner to die. Thanks once again to 7 person party I managed to live through the encounter. I found a rock to hide behind and used my wild talent to change my square to originate line of sight.

We almost lost a couple party members who got surrounded. We managed to scrap by with some bad rolling by our DM. Seemed at least half of his rolls were 3's or 4's. I thought the wastewalker encounter was a little anti-climatic, but if the large party made it to easy is hard to discern with such lousy rolling. I think we all know that if you or the DM rattle off a string of poor rolls it can swing an encounter from easy to hard.

Over all I thought the story was good. I thought some of the characters were generated in an unusual fashion. Jarvix had the Create Campsite ritual. In encounters the extended rests at placed at set intervals. I also thought that the feats for Jarvix could have been done better, so I changed them. Jarivx is a contact for the Veiled Alliance for new recruits. I thought to stay with that story that he should be more elusive than he was. I switched to the feats which bumped up his theme power Excise from sight and changed an at will power to one where he could make himself invisible to his enemies. While I appreciate the need to send thoughts and distract twice per encounter or have send thoughts send power points to the party members, I found that they really didn't fit with my vision for Jarvix. Jarvix is a paranoid controller who is a front man for a secret organization in a game world you are trying to showcase at a regular public event. I just saw him being a lot different than he was presented. I liked being able to change him at the beginning of Chapter 3.

Which brings me to next week. We can bring our own toons, as long as we use the red box or the keep on the borderlands book. Unfortunately the character builder isn't being updated until later in October. I have a feeling for next week I will go the lazy route and just take a pregen toon. It worked out well for Jarvix, you just have to make the best of what you are given to work with.
