Jororked Forgefire

Last week we saw the rebuilt Jarvix help entice some cannibalistic halflings into not eating our party and then ran off to recover our stuff and bolt into an unknown forest. This week in encounters we find out why the cloth wearers stand in the back. Once again I fell prey to a sense of ownership, this time to the winning perception roll to find something cool in the forest. It turned out to be a teleportation circle powered by a crossover of Athas and the Land within the Wind (Feywild). Since I basically found it, I felt obliged to try it out. Me and Phye went up to it poofed over five squares. Then my face had trouble staying on my head, things were trying to eat it.

Swarms of little vicious ferret like animals can running at the activation of the circle. Two big brother type ferrets and a panther answered the call of the circle. The panther took particular interest in me and tried to dragged me off into the forest for a midday tiefling snack. What ensued can only have taken place with just the right people with just the right circumstances. I helped tank this encounter. At first I thought I was a goner and then my party healed me up. I had more hit points thanks to a background choice. End of the story, a 40 hit point character, tanked 74 damage and tripped the take 50 damage in a session milestone. I started with out a scratch from the previous week and ended with a surge and 34 hit points left.

The cooler part of the night was a discussion started by our DM to take the next step and try to start up a home campaign with our group. Over the past weeks our group has gelled and the DM has been having fun with our party. It was a nice gesture since I too had been enjoying the Wednesdays nights gone by. I had wanted to get into a home game since Encounters has an open door, but changes the door every now and again. I would like to see the higher stuff and go further with one character. The exact details of the campaign isn't settled yet, but it could be fresh or a continuation of the encounters group. We will see.
