Now I have tried this edition more than one time as player and as DM and every time I did it always seemed to leave a very sour taste in my mouth.

To me it never seem to hold the same magic the same feel that earlier editions did to me, however my friend wanted me to help him learn the rules of the game as he was heading to Albany Sunday to play and didn't want to come off looking like a idiot.

As he is my friend and has helped me out more than I care to count I sucked it up and came over to his house with a 12 pack of Guinness and my lap top we went to work. As he recently won the 4e red box on ebay we had all we needed to introduce him to what he wanted.

I opened the box and began to teach and at first he didn't like the simplistic way the game was laid out. I told him it was set up for people who never played a role-playing game before so it would make it easier for them to learn the ropes. Anyhow fast forward two hours later we were going full steam by then his wife was home making her famous chili and was listening in on the game-play.

Flash forward a hour later she too was playing the game as the clock ran down for me to head home I helped him pack up the game. My friend gave me a lift home and asked me if 'I liked the 4e any more than I did before?' To be honest if the 4e came out under another name other than D&D I would have said yes the first time I played it. Now after the third time I can say it's OK I mean it isn't the worst gaming system I've ever played but it's OK.

I guess like when you fall in love for the first time you never reach that hight in passion ever again I guess my feelings for D&D is quite the same. Mind you my first love was and always will be 1e where 2e was sweet, 3e and 3.5 were very nice. Now 4e I guess is fine in it's own way and to some of you it's your first love so in that way I'm happy to see that same passion I once had.

So in closing do I like 4e? Who am I to tell you? Use your own mind and decide for yourself. Like it hate it fact is it's here so I guess deal with it. ]]>

As Peebo discerns the magical trap, Kael seasrches his mind for what it might be.

Peebo searches the door covering every inch and finds a trap on the door after close to ten minutes he discerns the trap to be some kind of magical trap. He has some experience with magical traps but he knows they are far more difficult to disarm than those of a mechanical nature......

Peebo sweat forming on his brow disarms the last of the magical trap as he lets
ut a loud sigh as he shrugs smirking, "Piece of cake." Turning the knob Peebo finds the door is locked as he curses in gnomish as he unlocks the door to the room as he walks slowly in.

Several piles of moldy sacks sit in each of the four corners of this room, their decaying contents fill the air with a sour smell. There is a door directly across from the one they have just entered.

Dolthen casts a eye in as he motions the gnome to please enter as he brings up a boot on his backside with a smirk on his face.

Peebo looks at one of the rotted sacks in the corner the contents of the sacks long since have rotted. Scratching his head he can not make heads nor tails of what it could have been as he notices small gray mushrooms and black mold grow on top of the bags....

Just behind Peebo, a cloth covering his nose and mouth to prevent a fiasco like he just went through, Kael keeps his bow strung and taut as he enters. His eyes cover the floor, walls and ceiling of the room.

"Anyone got oil? We could douse the sacks in it, cause I got a bad feeling...." ]]>

He looks at the bodies in the way they were killed.

"Looking to see if those Orcs were aligned with the Sorcerer, not sure how only a few Orcs could take down this many foe even if it is over a time. They probably had help, used that ambush technique a few times, or more of them are around. I think the later...keep 360 coverage."

With that Khan pushes forward nodding to the Ranger and Scout to lead the way..."Best not to waste anymore time unless you think we need to search that pit in there?"

Dolthen still on the outside of the room takes up his axe as he adds."True 'at Khan."

Nothing is found on the bodies as they seemed to have been stripped, however the gnome notices the wounds were caused by sharp-edged weapons. ]]>

Nobody seems to be injured, so he removes as much blood and gore from his morning star as he can and readies to move out.

Until the illness wears off, the Hunter sits on his haunches, completing his stomach emptying as quietly as possible. His blades are still out and ready, but still. Gasping, he glares up at the door the Orcs came through. "We were followed. Perhaps even set up? There is little chance those vile Beasties happened upon us by chance. Suppose one of you brave Warriors could go see if anything else is behind us? Or perhaps we could bar the door shut? I dislike the
idea of being ambushed every so often from behind."

Alvaren looks over the orcs the group has just dispathced. He is not one to "rifle" through their clothing or anything, but he is curious as to why they are here...so he looks for anything suspicious that an orc might not normally have.....After a careful search very little is found on the orcs worth any use.

Peebo moves up to the door where the orcs came through and peers inside. Even before the gnome reaches the door he could smell something was amiss. Peering in the smell is almost as overwhelming as the last room you were in. The source is more than a score of bodies piled up in this room, their flesh rotting away. ]]>

He concentrates deeply and, though difficult, pushes the sickening smell out of his mind and body. He recognizes the foulness as some sort of body odor, instantly putting his guard up. He cannot however, imagine who or what could generate such a stench.

It does not take Dolthen long to pull out the sick members. As he pulls the last of the people out of the room he sees moment from his side as he catches sight out of the corner of his eye 5 squat creatures, broad, flat-nosed, sallow-skinned, with wide mouths and slant eyes each in hide armor with short swords and shields attempting to stealthily attack the party from the rear failing as the dwarf now sees them they let out a loud roar and start to run closing quickly. ]]>

Only he is to late as large chucks spew in between his fingers as he fails miserably to keep his meal down.

He stops briefly hoping the matter to be resolved as he starts yet again as tears fill his eyes.

Khan wills himself to overcome the stench just as he is able to overcome the adverse weather, his mental fortitude overwhelmed this hindrance as he rushes forward shield to the front with his sword ready to strike.

Concentrating more on watching than smelling, the Hunter steps quietly in and moves forward, covering the doorway with his bow. Inhaling deeply, the foetid scent of death and rot overwhelms him and he falls to his knees, emptying the contents of his stomach onto the stone floor emphatically. His eyes blurry with tears, he tries to keep as quiet as possible while scanning the room,
including floors, walls and ceiling. He holds up his hand, attempting to keep everyone else out. "Stay back! Do not enter until the
air clears - the stench of mortal death and decay is overwhelming."

Dolthen growls as he curses covering his face as he starts to help those afflicted out of the room as quickly as he can. As he does he notices various pools of dried blood throughout the room. ]]>

Motioning the others to wait, he steps forward to back up Peebo and give his Low Light vision a minute to adjust. He then scans the room and the walls to see what he
can find, if nothing jumps out to attack.

Without turning, he stage whispers to the rest: "Perhaps light behind Peebo and I might be useful.... Please be careful to stay arear of our Low Light vision though."

Alvaren watches Peebo's investigation of the door. He could tell the rogue was talented in his craft. The place they were in held an unnatural silence, which was exacerbated when the door opened into darkness. He moves with his companions through the room, moving silently and listening for the least little telltale sound signifying danger....

Peebo searches the door nearest to the one they came through first searching for any traps and then disables any traps if found and last if the door is locked he opens locks . Turning to the others he winks and gently pushes the door open.

Dolthen as before keeps rear guard even though with the way the came in now sealed the chance for something attacking from behind unrealistic he keeps guard.

The heavy smell of stale air greets Peebo as he opens the door to this large room. Bits of dried grass as well as larger hunks lay all over the floor as if a tornado recently tore through a meadow. All of a sudden a overpowering smell of body odor along with some other kind of stench hits Peebo's nose like a war hammer as bile in his stomach starts to rise in his throat...... ]]>

Dolthen looks at the doors that Peebo describes on the map. "Buth ways is as gud as anither. Lit us try th' a body on th' side first. Peeboo search fur an' traps ur if it is locked." Dolthen looks at the other members of the party and adds. "Weel come alang we didne gie dressed up fur naethin'. Th' is a sorcerer tae be captured an' gold tae be gart."

Peebo nods and moves back to the room to the door on the side and searches for traps. He then disables any traps, and lastly he opens the lock to the door.

Peebo finds no trap nor is it locked when he pushes the he hears the sound of feet behind him, turning he notices Khan who has his sword at the ready in case of anything on the other side attempting to attack the gnome.

As Peebo pushes, the door the edges disappear into a blackness as the rest of the party slide into the room behind the gnome and Khan. You allow the door to open completely and you watch as more and more of it is swallowed up in the barrier until only it's hindges are visible. Peering cautiously into the darkness for any signs of movement, you see nothing. Even your ears can only detect the breathing of your fellow adventurers. The darkness behind you reals nothing of what lies beyond until at last the darkness fades showing only a solid stone wall where the doorway once stood.

Khan moves to the other side to call out, "The other door is gone as well!" As you find only your torchlight feebly in this complete gloom as you now find the way you came in sealed like a tomb leaving you to your own thoughts.... ]]>

Will they be able to stop the ancient darkness that tries to once again walk the lands of the living or will they fail and let the darkness once again reclaim what was stolen from it? All seek out the dungeon intent on finding the entrance to some long-lost dungeon guaranteed to hold much treasure. This colossal epic will take our heros from a neophyte dungeon crawling all the way to epic levels. Miles of passageways filling a map the size of your living room hold enough danger and excitement for years of adventuring. Every monster in the monster manual is included within its confines, all gathered into logical ecologies and never before seen diabolical hierarchies and encounters. If you are serious enough to fight your way to the top, the World's Largest Dungeon is a challenge you can't pass up!

You all leave the inn to find a light snow falling covering the ground making all look untouched. It takes about twenty minutes to reach the tomb which is now under guard. Autolycus must have sent word because as you close the guards step aside with the sergeant adding, "Keep to the path on the map and you will be safe. Venture off of it and the tombs traps will take care of any would be looters."

1. The door at the base of the long stairs opens easily. Beyond it you see a small room containing a wooden table, two chairs, and a bottle of wine. This guard room is usually manned by two men in chain mail with symbols of Harwick on their shields. They give you a polite nod and open the doors leading into room 2.

2. As the doors to the room are open to this chamber, you find yourself peering into a brilliant light, as you see yet more guard force of over 25 in this area. One in wizard robes smiles, "Well met Autolycus sent word of your arrival we like to wish you good hunting and will keep watch waiting for your return." After saying that one of the guards unlocks a door leading to passage 8.

8.As you proceed down the corridor, you see that there is an 8' high bas-relief carving of a Knight on the side of the corridor wall.

Following the path there is two men in plate mail waiting holding lanterns and what appears to be a open trap door. "Down here follow the tunnel you will find another trap door open it up and head to the wall opposite the trap door that is where the trail went cold. Once you enter the other room we will seal this end of the trap door. Be warned it will be trapped and warded the password for the ward is Astrerpahel it will disarm the glyph after that give seven sharp raps and tell us whom you are and who sent you and lastly what you saught. Good luck. "

It takes hardly anytime to make it to the other room as open the trap door and head upwards into the room. You find the room to be well lit as you glance around there are two identical mausolems. There are pillars supporting the ceiling, and carvings , paintings, and mosiac murals of knights of Hartwick deeds line the walls. These images are heroic, vialant, and humbling at the same time. Upon the one wall is a painting depicting the Company of the Nightshade under the painting a spot where the sword once rested now gone here is where you will begin your quest..... There is something roughly carved into the wall opposite that catches you eye it reads:

Man lives in the sunlit world of what he believes to be reality. But, there is, unseen by most, an underworld, a place that is just as real, but not as brightly lit...A DARKSIDE.

Peebo moves to the far wall where the writing is and begins to carefully search
the wall stone by stone for any hidden compartments or secret doors.

Moving silently and quickly amid his companions, Alvaren looks for the trap door
the guards spoke of. His senses were on high alert, making sure that nothing
noteworthy escaped his notice....

Dolthen brings up the rear of the group scowls at those who lock the doors
behind them thinking them more to be cowards than anything but keeps silent as
he moves to catch up with the rest of the party.

Kael examined the trail carefully as he walked beside Peebo, looking for any
clue that might have been missed. Was it a false trail as he strongly suspected,
laid to lead them astray? Was there anything unnoticed?

In the small room behind the trap door, he joined the others in searching for
secret doors but again kept an eye out for anything that may have been missed.

It takes almost the combined effort of the party to find the secret door with a set of stairs leading down a narrow passageway. As Peebo exits the dark, and yes dank narrow passageway onto a worked stone floor. Looking about, he sees that he has entered a large square chamber hewn completely from stone. He notices two iron doors, one to his side and one in front of him. Otherwise there are no other features of interest in this room. ]]>
