I’m either doing things horribly wrong or Charlotte is simply a place of the gaming void. I’ve tried to join up with some groups in the D&D community that play the Living Forgotten Realms modules, but the problem I find here is that I might as well be doing war gaming. There is some role-play but you’re pretty much an ass if your character has a problem with another person’s character and won’t let the module commence. You suffer PCitis horribly and thereby simply allow PCs into the party because they ARE PCs… I hate meta-gaming. So I cannot play with that group anymore without going insane.

Other groups are similar or are locating themselves in the ONLY game store in Charlotte that has space or doesn’t seem extremely pretentious, the main problem being is that it’s in the middle of bum-f*ck nowhere. So I can’t really get my fix there.

Finding folks of like-mindedness to play has been irritating. I’ve tried message boards and online gamer groups who end up exchanging outside contact information with me which pretty much leads up to the letdown of no one answering the phone, etc.

I’m at my wits end. Do you folks here in Charlotte not like new blood? Do you absolutely HATE pursuing your own hobbies? I just don’t get it….

Well, I can’t give up as I would go completely bonkers, so here’s to another shot! *bang*

Well I’m kinda in a gaming slump at the moment. I’m planning on moving to Charlotte, NC in about 2 months and cannot wait to get there. I came back to P&P to get an idea of some of the people that I could be looking up once I get there. Gamers out here on the west coast don’t seem to be as passionate as those on the east. I suppose I miss that. No offense west coasters, but it’s ironic that wizards is based here. HAHAHAHA! Maybe I do prefer white wolf after all?

Latest gaming offer I received was from a friend who wanted to run a world of darkness campaign. Old. I’m not a fan. I was absolutely steeped in the old world of darkness for far too long and I think the old system has far too many flaws. I get a little sick even thinking of playing in it. Perhaps that has to do with my involvement with the camarilla fan club for too long back in the day, perhaps not. Anyway, I asked the guy to consider new and he said he’d get back to me… Knowing that I’m moving he gained players, ignored my request and graced me with the offer of playing his npcs for him as if it were a favor. I know a lot of childish people, what can I say? So for now I’m just playing occasional games with a couple of my roommates.

As for me and my fiancé, we’re still waiting for NC. He’s already there and here I am sitting and waiting for the chance to move. It’s already date set, but we’re waiting for the company I work for to move me. If they don’t I’ll just have to quit. I’d rather not, as they have absolutely wonderful benefits. They’re a great company and I really wanted to retire there but they’re being quite irritating about the whole thing.

Wish me luck!
