Found this and amazingly it picked a class I really want to play.

Not surprisingly, I am a Druid. I do tend to favor Nature over man-run-amok. But that's the real me.

As for a PC, I presently favor the Rogue.

Generally I've never found the class all that appealing, but that's just me.

Actually, two weeks ago I started playing in a new 4e (mostly) campaign, where I'm playing my very first cleric. Hopefully I'll enjoy it. *crosses fingers*

Okay, let me come clean: I would have been a little bothered too if my test came up cleric. Just remember, when characters are in need whilst adventuring, you're their best friend. I'm trying to be humorous here, it is, after all, quite early and i just spent an all-nighter writing a paper, so my humor guage may be off a bit.

Curious: If you could have made the choice, which character do you see yourself most aligned with?

Now that i'm thinking about it, i remember another dnd test somewhere or another. I'll have to find the link and leave it here. I'll look for it today.

I'm honestly not sure what class I was hoping for; possibly bard. Cleric's not actually that bad; I do like helping people. I don't know, maybe as an atheist, I just prefer less church-oriented classes.

The test was hard for me because most of the questions either had two answers I liked equally, or had no answers I liked at all. Part of me wants to answer questions as my favorite classes, though the test is probably designed to match to your real-life personality. I don't know what I'd be in real life, but I bet it would be a multiclass.

Yep, i understand. You just stated the #1 reason why i hate psych tests: having only one choice when two apply.

Found the test: http://www.okcupid.com/tests/the-what-dungeons-and-dragons-class-are-you-test Not sure if this is the one, but it's in there somewhere. I remember there was a stat test and a test to determine class. Last time i took it i was a spellsword, if i recall correctly.

Actually, there are alot of test for Dungeons and Dragons.

In case the link doesnt work or you wish to find more tests, go to www.okcupic.com (http://www.okcupic.com), and search tests with dungeons and dragons.

I can totally relate. I'm agnostic, bordering on atheist, so when I read anything in fantasy novels (or D&D in general) about the gods & such, I can't help but feel a little...I dunno, just kinda "Yeah, as if."

However, when I first played D&D 20-some years ago, my 2 characters were a Dwarf (which made him a Fighter) & a Cleric (which made him a Human). I wanted the Dwarf because I wanted to be a straight-up fighter with extra abilities...Human Fighter's didn't get infravision or the ability to detect all the neat underground stuff. But I also wanted the Cleric, because of the fear of our characters dying...couldn't rely solely on the hopes of finding healing potions. And I thoroughly enjoyed being the party healer! Watching after everyone, healing them before they dropped, turning them from stone to flesh after looking at a Medusa (though wouldn't you know, it was my Cleric who failed a saving throw once vs a Beholder & was turned to stone...luckily, we had a Stone To Flesh scroll on the Magic-User.) But I enjoyed it, it was definitely a niche to be the only Healer in the party!

<EDIT> I also found it hard to pick answers, for all the reasons you gave. :)

I'm with you both on this. I tend to run games in one of two ways. The "age of reason" where the power of the church has waned their beliefs are viewed primarily as superstition and rational thought has begun to prevail over dogma. The alternate setting is one in which the church is nearly all powerful, greedy and corrupt (or thoroughly infiltrated by the agents of evil) and thus the primary enemy.

I was actually thinking that playing a cleric might be fun. Run him as an over the top zealot who tries to convert everyone to his faith. Maybe hold out on the healing unless the other characters promise to convert. What can I say, I love playing misguided obnoxious assholes. :)

Yep, too many of the questions will ask "Would you rather X or Y?" And I'll think, "Well, sometimes I'd rather X, and other times I'd rather Y."

Any of you ever take the "Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myers-briggs)" test? That's the one where your score is four letters: I or E; N or S; F or T; P or J. (That's Introvert/Extrovert, Sensing/iNtuition, Thinking/Feeling, and Percieving/Judging.) So you might be a ISTJ or an ENFP or any other combination... That makes 16 combinations total, but if you are right in the middle on one of them, it's an X instead of the normal letter. I'm usually an INFP, but the "I" is the only strong one. The other three are nearly Xs, and sometimes change when I take other versions of the test.

I think you are being hard on yourself. I liked Orianna the Tiefling Warlord. In fact the character was sufficiently memorable that I *gasp* remember her name and high points of her back story even ... what ... six months after the game's last session?

That's got to count for something.

Yep, you got to separate yourself, so to speak, in order to take this test. In truth, i took a "which race are you" quiz a few years back. It was extremely obvious which class one ends up with.

Example question(from memory): Do you prefer living in carved stone caverns, thick woods, ... ." You get the idea.

Tell you what, cigmnogard; tell us which you would be.

Honestly, I am who I am...but I "play" DND so I can experience something different. I don't want to be me. I want to escape my life and adventure in far off exotic lands as someone else. Now, I enjoy playing different classes, races, and sexes; and I try not to play the same twice - ever. So, each time I build a charcter she/he is quite different. Also, the character is usually so well portrayed that anyone else at the table will know what my character would do in any given situation if I have to go to the bathroom, answer a call, or dash off to pick up another player.

I was thinking about this today, coincidentally.

Based off the point buy method in 4e and being human (+2 to any attribute) I came up with this

Str: 9
Con: 14
Dex: 13
Int: 18
Wis: 13
Cha: 11

which would fit in to the class I would be if D&D were real life. Either a wizard or a shielding swordmage.

Wizard seems pretty booksmarts, and I like to help/protect my pals.

Said that I am a rogue. Now the has some good powers, but I like to play a swordsman, and I cannot do that with the rogue.

3e- Warblade/Duskblade
4e- Fighter/Ranger/Blade Dancer or Ranger/Wizard/Blade Dancer both with the ritual caster feat.

I like to play a mobile swordsman that can uses a big sword, and knows a bit of magic, of the healing kind. Think Cloud from FFVII but with a handed sword. Normally go with a bastard sword.
