Came across this on a blogger's site. It seems pretty nifty. I think skill challenges are something that can be used by any game, so:

Bookmarked it so I can give it a thorough read through when I have some more time.
Thanks.

At first glance it looked to have potential. I bookmarked it for a perusing later on. Thanks for the link.

Its almost ludicrous to attempt to do this with some sort of special system. This seems almost overkill to me, an over-legislation of rules. I have a very simple set of rules, no more than a paragraph and a few bullet points for "synthesized knowledge and extended actions"...
The short answer is take all relevant abilities into account, ask if the PC's are doing anything special, set a base difficulty & apply modifiers from the characters actions and capability then make a check.

Just FYI, Skill Challenges were added to Star Wars Saga in the book Galaxy of Intrigue. If you are looking to see how they work in a much improved form from what's apparently in 4E, check the Saga book out for ideas. I'm planning to some day even build the system into a homebrew Cortex game of mine. It's that inspiring, and our Star Wars campaigns have so much added cinematic flavor with these. Highly recommended.
