They're like Jay Leno's Doritos: "Crunch all you want. We'll make more." Never had a problem with XP. Vista, on the other hand, does suck hairballs. Windows 7, coming out in October, should be the fix i'm looking for.

You really think they'll get it right with that version? I kinda doubt it, they've been on a downward spiral with their last few.

Don't know if there will ever be a 'right' version of anything, but there are varying degrees for wrong versions. I am hopeful that Windows 7 will be better than Vista. It definitely isn't as big of a resource hog as Vista, so that is something.

I suppose that would depend on what kind of group you formed. You could start up a thread in a category that matches the interest for the group. Or if you're looking to form a more general role playing group, you could look up players in your area and send them invitations to join the group via PMs. Just a couple of suggestions. But there may be better ways that I'm not aware of.

I liked it. I am not very familiar with Dick's work though, so I don't really know what he is all about just yet. It was not a great book, but it was definitely worth the time I spent reading it.

Set in the near-future, Dick slowly lays out the rules of his world and explains the character's motives. He never violates consistency in any way I can see.

The story focuses on Rick Deckard, who is the back-up bounty hunter for the SFPD. His targets are escaped androids - "andys". The primary bounty hunter was injured by a new line of advanced human replica that is almost completely undetectable except by a somewhat fallible complicated empathy test.

In the middle of the book, he does this really strange thing. Dick makes you ask the question of the main character (Rick Deckard) - Is he even real. Ridley Scott did the same thing amazingly well in Bladerunner, but in a completely different way. It was really freaky.

The ending of the book was very different from Bladerunner and more depressing.

The book is an easy read. It got it for $14.00 at Barnes and noble. It seemed to me that they used larger print to fill up the 250 pages. The average member of P&PG could probably read it in 2 days.

How does the software work with wireless internet? Is it a simple thing or complicated to get it connected?

It depends. If you have a wireless card that the manufacturer is not stingy with the specification, and the open source drivers are available, fall off a log easy. Such is the case with my older Linksys wireless B PC card and the built in wireless on the Lenovo T61. Both just work. I have also seen wireless cards that defied every attempt to get them to work with Linux.

The issue is entirely one of hardware vendors. Do a little research and make sure your card's chipselt is compatable.

As far as significance for levels - there really is none - just bragging rights. And if your exp pt total just dropped its probably due to the overhaul that recently took place. Otherwise it shouldn't go down.

That's true now, but not before. All sites allow for the comaraderie factor whereas, this one no longer does. I see General camaraderie Chatter more useful than most the blogs, for many if not most of them bring nothing to the community. Besides, pictures, blogs, etc and other areas should be stripped of points too. Where does it stop? See the dilemma?

Again, I have no problem with any overhauls for i have been outspoken about doing away with levels and titles, but i do question the math & true motivations when others are given anywhere from 100-1000 referrals during the overhaul to bump their experience and levels, referrals they didn't recieve. If this were just about doing away with General Chatter points-which i'm fine with, then referrals wouldnt be added to pad their profiles. Kind of makes true intentions a bit transparent, don't you think?

The jerk-wad who stared this thread shaved his butt and learned how to walk backwards, but couldn't stop sniffin' all the local fire hydrants, which reminded him so much of his long lost robot friend, Billy, who much like the fire hydrants was painted fire-engine red and spoke little Russian, but this was no problem because the leprechaun, Shamus O'Shanty O'Shame, had granted him full and complete access to a very collectable set of singing forks that were used to kill fourteen of the worlds most famous french fries, which, although delicious, could sing all of John Tesh's classics, including "Smoke on the Water," which was originally written by John Tesh, but sold to Deep Purple in exchange for lessons in beginning his new career in break dancing, which he funded with the money he made off of miniature south-Guatamalan yodeling lemurs that he sold on the black market in the quaint little backwater town of Muleshoe Texas, which is known mostly for its tumbleweeds, armadilo roadkill, and of course, the Research and Development Center for the HAMDIC (Hamster Driven Interpanetart Cruiser) Starship set to lauch in the year 2012 for the distant planet of Gerbalis, the happy rodent paradise where hamburgers eat humans, which was only possible because of that mutagen spill last year caused by the scientific discoveries of Ronald McDonald at a shopping mall in east lansing Michigan, which he frequented so much because it was devoid of humans due to the attack of the killer tomatoes.
