mustard and relish on a hot dog equals epic awesome.

Agreed. Even of that awesome is nearly certain to cause me tummy troubles later, some times you just got to.

Pretty sure that if you don't live in coastal California the weather sucks during a big chunk of the year. But then non-Californians don't have to deal with earthquakes. I'll put up with the crap snowy months in Pennsylvania to avoid that I think.

Earthquakes, fires, mudslides.

I rather like the cold months. Snow isn't even that bad. (Michigan) I enjoy the changeable weather.

Hey, if any of you Texans want some rain come to New Hampshire! We have had maybe 6 days without rain in the past 2 months. (80% of those days it rained the majority of the day!)1)That would requier leaving Texas, and what fool would want to do that?
2)Looking for a little moisture down here to water the lawns, not interested in living in a shower.

It will probably star Will Smith and Samuel L Jackson will have a role as well. Like 80k other Hollywood films. I used to like Samuel L, but seriously the day he does Snakes On A Plane and then goes on to become Nick Fury? Seriously Nick Fury? Sacrilege!

Yes they are out of ideas, and that proves it.

Panthro82
07-09-2009, 04:56 PM
I am no where near being racist, but Nick Fury is white in the comics. On top of looking entirely different than Nick Fury did anyways. (Different height, build, face, e.t.c) Why do they insist on giving roles over to the same actors in every film? Seriously no other people out there that look the part and can act?

If we follow this formula then maybe when they do the Green Hornet movie they should cast Vin Diesel to play him. Just the fanboy in me ranting!

emblasochist
07-09-2009, 05:32 PM
He explicitly asked the directors for the Iron Man movie to be Nick Fury if Fury appeared. He was granted that request. Again, I see no problem. I mean just because the guy doesn't look like Fury doesn't mean he can't make a good Fury... After all, Edward Norton looked nothing like the Hulk, but he made an AMAZING Hulk. And no, that was not intended...

Panthro82
07-09-2009, 05:50 PM
It's hard to throw Edward Norton into this cause he's probably one of the 5 best actors in the industry today. I used to love Samuel L, but he has fallen far since the days of Pulp Fiction.

Dexter, 2.12, "The British Invasion"
On the hairball topic - as I was going through this last page of posts, I was kinda thinking the same thing. Correct me if I'm wrong, for those of you who know first hand, but I was wondering if this is what it feels like to be a parent: You know, when it started out you didn't have any kind of plan, you were just foolin' around, having some fun; the next thing you know you've got this thing that you created that keeps following you around and despite your best intentions it doesn't seem to pay you any mind; eventually you wake up one day and realize that this damn thing has a mind of its own and that you have absolutely no control over it! Sound familiar anyone?

And Panthro, don't forget, Will Smith also play James West in "Wild, Wild West" which sort of threw me for a loop. So I kinda know where you're coming from.

emblasochist
07-09-2009, 06:23 PM
I kinda took it for granted that that was what parenting was like, never having been one before... Hell, I'm too scared of how atrociously bad a father I would be that I haven't even had sex before just to be absolutely certain.

This week is turning out crazy.

Finding one of my bestest high school friends = awesome. (We went to the one and only dance event I've ever attended, heh - not "together," but together.)

Getting a scholarship letter from the college, that puts even out-of-state tuition within reach for this semester = awesome.

If, for some serendipitous reason, I meet a fantastic girl over the weekend, I'm not entirely sure Fate isn't setting me up for some cosmic Candid Camera shot ... :suspicious:

But, as Garrison Keillor always says, if life seems to be going well, never fear; this, too, shall pass :P

One of my best friends in high school was lesbian. She was smokin' hot and most of her girlfriends weren't bad looking either. I happened run across her a couple of years ago on Classmates.com. and later on, 23 years after I last saw her, I got to talk with her on the phone a few times. She's still smokin' hot. So I've always thought lesbians were sexy. Unfortunately, that fact still gets me absolutely nowhere.

yea its hard to believe that the generation they grew up in is almost a different species from about the 3 youngest generations today. When these new generations get older and become grandparents, 90% of them won't be able to cook to save their lives, but they will know everything about computers and all technology in general. Like my grandfather could straight out cook anything and make it taste like you should pay for it in a restaurant, that type of grandparent is becoming rarer and rarer.

Speaking of undead... In my Sunday mage game we had to go into twilight to get into this house (which hated us the DM warned us) and we got separated and on guy got trapped in a room with a literal corpse bride and they were caught snogging! They didn't go any further (thank god!) but after we left it turned out she WAS alive and she had been trapped in there!

Luckily for him she was because necrophilia is illegal in Providence...

The ones with the best attitudes I've had so far are tiger stripes and calicos. You might want to keep away the tortoise shells if you have other cats, they're evil towards 'others' but friendly as hell to humans. Ours is so friendly, her name is Sugar ... but she picks on the others like a bully and she's half their size.

Somebody had to take over for John Madden, yes; I hear the bear has a good shot at prime-time now, because of it.

Seriously, though, the polar bear was in its own enclosure, half-submerged. It would stick its muzzle in and blow bubbles through its nose.

I have to disagree somewhat. I have 4 cats now, have loved them all equally and make a point not to pick one over another, but they have 4 completely different attitudes in life. We have had others too, we had 7 at one time, and no 2 are alike regardless of how we socialized with them. Our biggest (26 lbs) cat, is a black cat and is the biggest chicken, he runs from everything. The oldest at 17, is a 20 lb tiger stripe and has the most laid back personality and has the best sense of humor. Our Calico is very much the Princess, very dainty. She is picked on by the much younger Tortoise shell (which I hear from a lot of others, regardless of whether or not they're different breeds, are like this). We had a large long hair white cat that yelled all the time, he was quite happy ... but he seemed partially deaf and instead of meowing ... would yell MEOW!. He was also territorial, and whenever a cat would walk by outside, he would jump down from the window he saw them from, and pee on the wall (and not spraying, he was fixed, pure urine), which caused us to get rid of him quickly. All in all in my life, I've had 3 black cats, 3 Torties, 1 Calico, 6 Tiger Stripes, 1 pure gray, 2 Persians (1 black and 1 gray), and 1 white with blue eyes ... and all of varying hair lengths ... and I've seen personality traits distinctive to the markings as well as breeds, especially the Persians ... but I hear that is because of inbreeding. And all certainly had their own personalities.

Of course they do, mine as well. But proper socialization can and does make people cats, not aloof furry decorations. Get them young and love the dickens out of them. Respect their catness. Cats can be trained. Ours do not walk on tables, they stay indoors and are not finicky about food. But they are themselves to be sure. Flower is not Zak and Zak is not Flower.

We are debating a third cat. At one point we had four. Diana and Missy passed from old age 17 and 19 respectively. Kidney disease got my Tiger just before Thanksgiving last year. Second cat to die on me that year, but Missy was not the blow Tiger was. I knew for months she was dying. I had been giving in subcutaneous fluids for a month before we had her put to sleep. Tiger was sudden, he was only 13 years old. Diana died two years previous to that, again complications of old age.

Zachery is 6, Flower is 3. They get their shots and vet visits. I like long lived cats.

Ayuh, all of mine have different personalities, but they are all very loving to us. All but 1 disappears when someone else comes inside though :) They stay off the tables and countertops (at least while we're awake), they stay inside, and they use the litter boxes, and all but one are not finicky about food ... the black one, Kohl ... besides being retarded at times, is finicky. Sometimes he will sniff the food and if it's not to his liking, will walk away and caterwaul about how me have mistreated him by giving him food he didn't want. He litterally walks around all of the rooms and howls at the walls for a good 5 minutes straight, that got to be troublesome when we were in an apartment that didn't know about him :)

My only real problem with smaller dogs are that they are barking machines. Can't stand yappers! Hate yappers, actually.

Well if you hate vocal dogs, don't ever own any kind of shepherd...be it German, Belgian, or whatever. Shepherds do not shut up. I got 3 of em....2 Belgian malios shepherds, and 1 german sheppard/husky mix....They love to yell, and hate shutting up.

Arch Lich Thoth-Amon

Oddly enough, i have always owned german shepherds and they have always been great. My last dog was an Akita, and she never barked. i guess i was lucky. Maybe it was because i have always owned just one dog at a time. They therefore couldn't be a bad influence on each other.

We had a German Shepard who wasn't much of a problem vocally. He would bark but only outside.

Now a Chow is the single worst dog for vocals that has ever lived. (next to the tiny yappers like Chihuahuas.)

Hmm, that is weird. Because any shepherd I've seen just refuses to shut up. But I guess you guys have been lucky.

I like dogs too, and not the little kind. Right now we have an Australian Shepherd, but she's 14 and loaded in tumors ... don't think she's gonna make it too much longer.

Next one will be big ... very big. Either an Irish Wolfhound or a Mastiff (not a Bull Mastiff, not big enough).

Sorry I'm a dog guy. But I mean big fluffy loyal dogs, not little yippy rats that people try to pass off as dogs.

I don't dislike dogs. I've had dogs. I don't want any more dogs. The care requirements and my lifestyle no longer match.

My dream dog is a Wolf/Malamute 75/25% mix. I'd want 2 or 3 of them....probably 3, start with one, and when he gets to about 2 or so, get the other 2, so I already have one trained and ready to lay down the law as the alpha male in their world.

Why are you subjecting yourself to this in the first place?
Borat was funny; Ali G was funny. Bruno the character, funny.

Bruno the movie - still funny, even with the trip into Greater Discomfortville. I think the extremities of specific intolerances marked the difference between Bruno and Borat. The latter didn't evoke such a visceral reaction, moments where I nearly felt like the film's subjects were liable to turn their attentions at me at first opportunity. But I won't *not* see movies just because they make me uncomfortable with their subject matter, nor will my roommate (she's the one who said we had to see it, incidentally).

Honestly, without the humor, the whole thing would have been far too upsetting to watch. It's one thing to understand, intellectually, those attitudes exist; it's entirely another to see the raw ... investment? I guess ... in those who carry them. My environment, culturally, is and always was quite far removed from those worlds, despite living in Greeley back in '98.

In the end, I stick to Edward R. Murrow, who said "If I've offended you by this rather mild account [...] I'm not in the least sorry." Granted, he was talking about something far, far more horrific than the material in Bruno, but it's a comfort to know there are still people today who expose the uglier side of humanity in its unprocessed form; even if they must also expose themselves to do so. (And I mean "expose themselves." Yikes! :P~)

You may be right on this. But isn't it possible that by simply putting in the right key words that you can search by subject without knowing the shows, movies or books and then search through these hits to find the shows, movies or books you want to use a quote from? Therein lies things which will make you lose SAN. Therein are things man was not meant to know. Therein lies that which once seen can not be unseen.

So many things which come from the bowels of the internets arise from that place. So many things which refuse to die. Things which bear no reason for existence other than to ask "I am 12 and what is this?"
