Check out this new article Wizards of the Coast posted recently:

Spotlight: Minotaur Warrior (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4mspot/20090123)

The Minotaur Warrior probably won't live through the skirmish, but that's OK. Just make sure that he does enough damage before dying to justify his points -- which is pretty easy, because he's cheap and hits real hard.

It often seems that looking for the units that offer the best HP-to-points ratio is a very good strategy. Obviously you want some abilities that work together, but HP are such a big part of the minis game it seems to rule out many more interesting units that are not that tough.

The minis game seems to me to be Wizards saying "Okay, we get it, a lot of you new players like to power-slay, and not much else. Here, please use this separate game and stop crapping up D&D." ...Let's hope that happens, and soon. In the meantime, though, Wizards had better fix those new RPGA rules. What good is getting Cormyr (my area, awesome!) if I'm the only one who actually role-plays? After they started letting people replay adventures, the tactitian-first-character-never guys jumped up and down like Jack Russell terriers, and everyone else had to either look elsewhere or become the stat-zombies themselves.
