View Full Version : Level 0 Minion?

So, by old school D&D, this would be a level 0 commoner with 1/8 HD, with all physical stats of 1. By 4th edition reckoning, I guess he'd be some kind of level 0 minion? In any case, this weekend, my wife unexpectedly delivered seven weeks early. So it was that Christopher H. Howard was to become the newest member of the Pen & Paper Games family at a whopping 3 pounds 11 ounces. And, being the typical dad, I couldn't help but share some pictures with you all.

The first picture is with with my wife, my son, and the new baby.

In the second picture, you'll see that we've spared no luxury for our new son as he basks in his first tanning bed -- living in Seattle, you do what you got to do.

In the third picture, you can see that I am already working on getting him familiar with the most popular icon of RPGs!

God bless and good luck with the baby.

Congrats, man! You finally got around to taking that Leadership feat you'd been looking at! ;)

How interesting that you mention your baby weighing in at 3 lbs. 11 oz. A coworker of mine, who just delivered her baby 8 weeks early, also reported that her son was born at that very same weight. He is doing spectacularly well, though, for being a premie.

Best wishes to your family and may the pitter-patter of little dice fill your home soon! :)

Congrats to both of you !

My own daughter was born 4 weeks early last November and she had some sun tanning urge too ! I hope you guys don't have to spend too much time at the hospital treating jaundice.

I can picture my pumpkin pie in a scifi role better for some reason.

Congratz on your child!

Remember, if you don't help train the next generation, gaming's going to die. Honest, I read that somewhere!:D

Yeah I've got to be ready to run a Sailor Moon vs Rapunzel game in a few years. I hope I can manage the tactical aspects and all the crunch :)

OMG! Congrats to you and your family :D

Those things make me nervous :o. When I was little, my mom told me my brother was baking in her tummy (like it was an oven), so when he was born premature and jaundiced they let us take him home with a portable incubator. He was yellow, the light was blue so he looked like a small, green pooping machine. Mom told me he wasn't done yet when he came out of the oven so we had to put him in a microwave!

Reminds me of some really bad "dead baby" jokes that I won't repeat here unless prompted...

PS. you need to get him a devil Duck to start him off right in life

So I guess that is how you get cohorts and minions when you have a really lousy leadership score. Make them. Good luck with the new person.

Congratulations! and many blessings to the baby and your family.

And remember...

I'll say it again...that rat really needs some photoshopped Force Lightning coming from his fingertips. Seriously...

Congratulations Farcaster!

My wife fired off our third trophy back in July of this year under less than ideal conditions, so I know what it's like to watch, wait, and hope for the best. I'm sure your new family will be debating the worth of 4e vs 3.5 in no time!

Seriously, congratulations again and nothing but the best for you and yours this holiday season!

12-11-2008, 04:39 PM
Thanks, all! :)

Congrats to both you and the Mrs. Farcaster. I too know all about the "tanning" booths. Hopefully everyone will be home soon, rolling dice.

Our youngest gave us a surprise by making her appearance 6 weeks early. Unfortunately, she developed what is commonly called "Looping Bowel Syndrone" and we got to spend a week at the Neo Natal ICU at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh. Hopefully all you have to deal with is the jaundice.

I'm sending positive thoughts and energy your way for your family and the health of your son. :)

Congratulations! :D

Being a parent is simultaneously tedious, thankless, and the most fulfilling thing in the universe.

Very much congrats on the new baby. Both sons of mine didn't want to come out. So instead they were dragged out kicking and screaming...and looking like aliens. One had the cord around his neck (he was fine) and the other had tied his in a knot (pirate/ninja skills).

12-13-2008, 03:06 PM
congratulations. =D

12-13-2008, 04:03 PM
Congratulations Farcaster! he is really cute!

cool rat. it looks like a real figure in that position.

12-14-2008, 10:51 AM
Congratulations Farcaster! And all other parents.

May the Fun be with you! - Always.

12-14-2008, 08:51 PM
Congrats & best wishes to you and "the fam."

12-17-2008, 01:06 PM
Congrats Farcaster! a little late I know (real life is a pain at times) Hope you teach that kid right about D&D.

wbrandel Hope you teach that kid right about D&D.

Depends on your definition of "right".
Just because you intended to get/make a Paladin, does not mean that you will.
For all you know, you'll get a Sorcerer!!

Such is the way that true Adventurers are.
They have to decide to become Heroes.
All that can truly be done is to encourage and inspire them, and then set them free.

And so this Wizard with Honorary Knight status will now return to being the Mysterious Figure seemingly required of Spellcasters.
