Army of Darkness: Invasion

I am planing to run Evil Dead/Army of Darkness campaign using the BRP system. The game will be held in the East Dallas/West Collin County area. We are in the process of moving the game to a new place. So I can not give out an address just yet. The start date for the game will be either Dec. 19th or Jan. 2nd. If you are interested sent me a message and I will give you more details.

You guys are using BRP and not the actual Army of Darkness RPG? I actually own it and have been itching to run/play. If I may be so bold, may I ask why you chose BRP?

Anywho, keep us posted as the game comes together. I'm really tempted to check this out.

I love Army of Darkness though I have never played with the BRP system. I am definitely interested in playing so hit me up with some details.

Let me clarify, we are using a heavily modified version of BRP. I have the Army of Darkness RPG book I will be using concepts from the book. I have several reasons for not using the Unisystem in the book:

1) Most of the players currently in the group have more experience with BRP than Unisystem.
2) I am not that impressed with the modified Unisystem that Eden came up with. I play tested with it and the game play balance was off.
3) The BRP system is easier to manipulate.

Here is some info from the players pack:

Step One – Choose an Archetype

1) The teenager – You’re in high school and doing your thing (whatever that is). Your biggest problem is passing your driving test and getting your parents off your back. Until now!

2) The Deputy – You’re the one of the sheriff’s deputies of a small county. You keep the peace and make sure the bar fights don’t get out of hand. At least you don’t have to put up with the weird stuff that happens in the big city. HA yea right!

3) The Professor- You received an urgent phone call from the head of your department to meet a colleague of his in a small town called Dandridge. You don’t know what this is all about but its sounds important. This could be your chance to advance your standing in the academic community, or get yourself killed.

4) The Occultist – You know the book is in the area and you know something bad has already happened. Knowby did not know what he had, but you did. If it weren’t for the scientific community discrediting your work all the time you would have had the resources to find the book first. Now however, you know what’s coming and you know how to stop it… you think.

5) The Forest Ranger – You found the old cabin torn apart and body parts all over the place. Your radio doesn’t work and you think you’re being watched. You have to go for help at the nearest town, Dandridge.

6) The Journalism Student – You over heard a phone conversation while outside the Office of the Archeology. An ancient book, a missing professor and a possible death. You think there is a story here…one HELL of a story.

7) The Athlete – You play a sport for a near by university. You were out parting with some friends on the shore of a lake. Then two of the girls started to get frisky, but something was wrong. One girl was eating out the other, but not in the good way. Then it spread to the others. Their eyes went milky white and started to yell, “Join us”. **** that, you went for one of the shotguns on the gun rack of the truck. You killed all your friends and then proceeded to puke your guts out. Your cell doesn’t work and you’re down to two shell of ammo for your boomstick. You have to get to the nearest town to get help or at least for some more ammo.

Now the Occultist character type has already been taken. All the others are up for grabs and it is first come first serve. Or come up with your own, I am pretty flexible with it.

I will have to give this some thought. I don't get home from work on Fridays until 6-6:30 and it looks like it would be occuring on the same weekends that my current game is running (albeit on Sunday). What time are you guys looking to start/end the session?

Color me curious. Even though I'm more familiar/partial to Unisystem over BRP, BRP is a simple enough system that it shouldn't be a big deal. Keep me posted.

Well, the game time start is between 7 pm and 8 pm and we end between 1 am and 2 am. We were shooting for the 19th to start the campaign but that is looking less likely. If the 19th does not make then Jan. 2nd would be the start.

The first session of my Army of Darkness campaign will take place this Friday. Character creation and then Episode 1: The Evil Awakes... Again , will be played. If anyone is interested in joining the game let me know, spots will be open until the 5th session.

The second session of the Army of Darkness campaign is this Friday (Jan 2). The game will take place at our new location in Nevada, TX. Once again if anyone is interested let me know so I can send you the address.

Update: This just in! A small town out side of Ann Arbor is under siege. The town of Dandridge has been cut off from the rest of the world. The State police and the National Guard have attempted to enter the area with no success. In fact every attempt to enter the area has ended in disaster. So far there has been 6 deaths. Two State police officers crashed their cruiser minutes after entering the area. The crew of a National Guard helicopter confirmed their deaths. A minute later the helicopter crashed, the entire crew assumed to be killed. As far as the people in Dandridge there has been only one call has come out of area. It was a call to 911 from a cell phone in the area. The State police have released the call to all the news agencies.
"Please help us. We ... trapped in ... gym ... Have.... injured and ... medical attention. The dead have risen ... and ... slaughtering ... please ... Running out of.... and ammo ... the ground ... shaking. Oh my God... help................. JOIN US!"
