December 8, 2008: Abydos And More! (http://www.sjgames.com/ill/archives.html?m=December&y=2008&d=8)

Last week was a busy one for e23 (http://e23.sjgames.com), with not one, not two, but three new releases!

First up, David Pulver (Spaceships (http://www.sjgames.com/gurps/books/spaceships/), Ultra-Tech (http://www.sjgames.com/gurps/books/ultra-tech/)) has given us a look into the island of necromancers known as Abydos, in GURPS Banestorm: Abydos (http://e23.sjgames.com/item.html?id=SJG37-1680). Although it's set on Yrth (http://www.sjgames.com/gurps/books/banestorm/), the city is self-contained enough to fit into a wide variety of fantasy settings. Use it as a location to visit, as a source of enemies (or Patrons!), or even as a home base for the PCs. (Longtime playtesters will remember an "Abydos" manuscript from years and years ago. Yes, this is that Abydos (http://e23.sjgames.com/item.html?id=SJG37-1680).)

Next, Cardboard Heroes: Fantasy Set 11 -- More Player Characters (http://e23.sjgames.com/item.html?id=SJG30-2111) features 40 printable figures of Vikings, nobles, clerics, halflings, gnomes, dwarves, and more! These can be heroes for the players, villains for the GM, or both! You can even print out a horde to cover your living room floor, and stomp through them like Godzilla.

Finally, GURPS Cliffhangers (http://e23.sjgames.com/item.html?id=SJG30-6027) returns to availability in digital form. Two-fisted heroes, shadowy criminal masterminds, and exotic locales can all be found in this guide to the pulp era.
