Check out this new article Wizards of the Coast posted recently:

The Druid, Levels 1-3 (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drfe/20081201a)

This article presents levels 1-3 of the Druid class, which will appear before too much longer in Player's Handbook II. The druid is a Primal controller with plenty to offer an adventuring group.

Controller, eh? I thought for sure they would make the Druid a striker. I tell you what I didn't see in any of the powers (1st through 2nd actually) that they posted -- healing, not one ounce of healing. That will be a bit different paradigm for the druid than past incarnations who weren't great healers, but at least could fill the role in a pinch.

I was pretty sure they'd make the Druid a controller or a Leader since Barbarian was going to be a Primal Striker. Seems the Druid can be a slight hybrid as either Striker or Leader. I can see a Shaman class down the road that's a Primal Leader.

These guys make much better controllers than wizards though. An At-will power and many of the encounter/dailies do all sorts of slides and pulls.

They will also be rouges' friends with all of their abilities that allow combat advantage (including a lvl 1 daily that has a save ends effect).

Pretty cool!

I'm a druid fan(eh, i know i'm in the minority), but i will have to try out this build to see if i like it. It's the only way to be sure. ;)
