Who has never altered or ignored the rules in favor of flavor in their games? I have. Rules are a guideline anyway, good to use to keep you on course, but a good GM will still use the trails of his/her choice in favor of game enjoyment. This is a good article for the newer GM's on the block. Us ancients? uh, not so much.
