Wow, it took me a whole day to basically come up with the teaser background for the first campaign of my own game world. The world itself is called Kroll. This will be played using the 2E version. The party that starts will be all begining characters that have no experience points at all and will be level 1. They can choose any race listed in the 2E Player's Handbook to make the character as well as an class listed in there also. I will have each player decide what type of character they want and proceed from there for the creation of it. The books used to run the campaign will be all from 2E. Currently they constist of the following: Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and the Monstrous Compendiums I and II. Others may be added if there is a way for me to borrow a copy to check out.

The party will be starting at the farming community of Azebo. Their first problem will be to solve the town's problem with a group of bandits. I will hold off on actually listing this on the campaign invitations until after I have drawn up the town of Azebo and the surrounding farming area and forest. I will include more character information with the initial campaign listing.

Um...:o Correct me if I'm wrong, but 2e is AD&D, right? First was the boxed sets; basic to immortal, then AD&D, then 3.0 and 3.5 and now 4.0. I know I've been out of it for a time, but I'm not that far out of it, am I?

If'n I'm not stupid,, and 2e is AD&D (I knew I should have grabbed that from storage when I saw it today), I'd like to join in. I'd need time though to get back to storage and retrieve the set.

Don't totally quote me on this but I think there was an AD&D and AD&D Second Edition. The one that is more commonly referred to as 2E now, is the AD&D Second Edition, which is the version that I am using.

Also, Duniagdra Daamyour, are you aware that I am located about a half hour east of Pittsburgh, PA?

i believe this is how it went:

Publication date1974 (D&D Original)
1977 (D&D 1st Revision - Basic Set)
1977–79 (AD&D 1st Edition)
1981 (D&D 2nd Revision - Basic, Expert Sets)
1983-1986 (D&D 3rd Revision - Basic, Expert, Companion, Master, Immortal Sets)
1989 (AD&D 2nd Edition)
1991 (D&D 4th Revision - Rules Cyclopedia)
2000 (D&D 3rd Edition)
2003 (D&D v.3.5)
2008 (D&D 4th Edition)

I am really looking forward to participating in this one.

I have most of the AD&D player class handbooks as well as the Spells&Powers and Combat Handbooks that offer some diversity in choosing character types for PCs and NPCs. Though if you want to limit it to the Player's Handbook, I am fine with that too!

I have a pretty vast collection of AD&D material that we could use.

I would be happy to bring them over for the first session to share with the group. They can at least bring up some creative ideas for backstory or styles to play as.

Next time I'll make sure to look up the town of someone before asking to join in their raindeer games. A 10.5 hour round trip is not what I have in mind as "within driving driving distance".

2008 (D&D 4th Edition)I think that's pretty good timeline there, although I didn't realize there was two releases of 2nd edition, 81 and 89. That's a new bit of FYI for my knowing. Thanks.

Yeah, just goes to show you that 4.0 is nothing new. They been doing this since the game was invented.

I would be really interested in any books that are from the AD&D second edition. Especially ones that have other character types and classes. The Spells & Powers might be interesting too, definately for the spells part. I'm assuming that you only have one copy of any given book. Funny enough, I managed to get ahold of a second Player's Handbook at one point, so I do have 2 of those.

Currently, I am looking at starting things by utilizing the just the Player's Handbook to start. As we progress, there is always the possibility to make changes that enhance the game. I am always willing to give things a look before just saying no.

Was going to draw up the map of the town of Azebo. Crap, my graph paper is so old that the lines are disappearing from it. Now I have to go buy some new. Delays, delays.

My apologies to those who were looking forward to seeing this world develope. With starting the "Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth" game, there hasn't been any time to work on the new world. May get to have a little more time after the new year begins, since that is usually when things slow down at work.

I hate to break it to you, but I'm really not a lich. Phoenixes after all, we do that renewal thing every 100 years. Keeps the flush of youth, all the parts working. Great for what ails you.

Ah, you finally admit your failings, Phoenix tesral! <EVIL'ly rubbing hands together with this bit of knowledge>

Even though i am sure it is against my nature, as a lich, i'm sure i can make an exception seeing as how i've known you for the last 5000 years, as to continue being friends.

Failing? That I'm naturally immortal and you had to give up breathing (and other things) to do it?

Dude, I think you would have noticed by now that I'm still breathing, chasing girls ,that sort of thing.

Burn my body if you can, it means nothing to me, i will just resurrect again. Can you say the same if i destroyed your body. I think not!

The Sith lose only a battle, not the war. Heck, how many 100's of years did they think us extinct. We have plans within plans within plans. We will never be extinct, we just choose to play the weak arrogant Jedi as our puppets. We rule the universe, not you!

Damn Tesral, do3s the knowledge ever end? That is TOTALLY useful in so many ways.

I nominate you for the Total Badass award!:first:

PS Nice work on the 2e Cplmac!

and......the 1st "2e" mentioned was revised Basic NOT AD&D, as the actual 2e (89) was. Never played them, used AD&D up until I switched to 3.5 just over a year ago. (with a long hiatus of the previous 15 yrs....now I play Pathfinder AND the occasional 4e)

Yes, but if you destroy a lich's phylactery, doesn't that mean that the lich is annihalated. Of course, the only way you would be able to destroy the phylactery is if you have first defeated the lich in combat first. Then you have to be fortunate enough to find and destroy the phylacter before the lich is able to resurect itself again.

What part about renewing in fire didn't you get? And use a very, very long stick. I'm old dude, 7000 years plus. We Phoenixes get dangerous to be around on cycle day as we age.
