Shadows over the Northlands (http://mysite.verizon.net/storm.hound/rpgfiles/northlands.html) is a newly forming 4e game from a GM who's been gaming since the early days of 1e (but who's been out a few years, and is without a group). I'm looking for players who want both RP and combat, and who want to play in a game that has room for exploration, character building, alliance forging, competition, discovery, and FUN with a group. Want a game where you can build a character into one of the movers and shakers of the world? Tired of dealing with antisocial, psychopathic PCs when you can be dispatching smooth-talking, psychopathic villains instead? Me too! Let's talk!

Shadows over the Northlands is now ready for launch...we will be having our first get-together very soon. If you're on the fence, the time to jump off is now! All PHB races, all PHB classes, 22-point build. Come and have some Sunday fun in Toms River!

Going to bump this just so it doesn't disappear too deep into the pile...still looking for people in (or near enough they don't mind driving to) Toms River, NJ who're interested in playing 4e every other Sunday, 2-10ish with other mature-minded, experienced gamers. It's been great fun so far, so if you're in the vicinity and hankering for a game, give Shadows over the Northlands (http://mysite.verizon.net/storm.hound/rpgfiles/northlands.html) a look, and drop me a line!

Sort of...between scheduling conflicts, family concerns, high gas prices and one good old-fashioned vanishing act, I'm suddenly down to a single player and am trying to decide whether to go through the whole recruiting drive thing again, or write it off and see if I can drum up interest in a PbP game on these forums instead...preferably for something utterly bizarre, like GURPS IOU.
Take a look at the website, tell me what you think, and we'll see where we can go from there. Thanks for the interest!

Certainly looks well thought out. I'd be willing to have a go at it. My D&D is a little rusty, seeing as I haven't played regularly in almost 20 years, but I do remember a good deal of the game system. Whatever new modifications have been made to it, I'm sure I can pick up. Have you read my profile?

That I did.
I will point out (and I'm assuming you've read my profile) that 4th edition bears much the same resemblance to the D&D you remember as a duck does to a dinosaur...there's some common ancestry in there, but you have to dig to find it...but despite that has been relatively easy to learn.

Yes, I've read your profile...I like the duck to dinosaur analogy, btw.
I'm checking out the sample characters & character sheets over at Wizards.com right now...quite unlike what I remember. But I'm sure I'd catch on quickly enough.
When would you be holding another session? Perhaps I could observe first & you & I could make a decision from there?

It's hard to hold sessions without players. Or at least, I find it so, other GMs may vary.
There's also the slight problem (which somehow failed to impinge upon my consciousness until this morning, I guess I was a little tired) of our three cats. Nobody here smokes, including the cats, but I doubt that would be of much comfort.

I must've misunderstood, I thought you had one player at the moment.
But more importantly, cats...I love animals, but my allergies can't take cats. Just thinking about being around the little critters makes my eyes itch & my sinuses fill up. Oh well, maybe in another lifetime!
