View Full Version : I'm whining

Is it me or the website has been a little sluggish lately ?

Like performance-wise or activity-wise?

Performance-wise. Sometimes pages take a minute to appear contrary to the few seconds delay I experience usually. If I'm the only one noticing this, it may be sth about my connection. Just wanted to check.

I noticed this also, especially when I hit the "reply" button. I only get the top bar (the one with all the links at the top)

That's very strange. I haven't noticed any performance problems at all. In fact, it is nice and zippy. When this happens, is it constant for a certain amount of time or does it stop and come back?

It's pretty consistant for me (but only happens when I hit reply, or refresh a page).

It has been sluggish for me the last few days. Perhaps, we are weathering a hack storm.

Hard to tell, I have been sluggish the last few weeks. ;)

Right now it's nice and smooth, and I feel silly :) Probably it was just a temporary thing

Sorry, we only have dial-up available out here, so speed depends on what our AOL connects at. Although, one time we were having difficulties for a few days, but it turned out that they were putting in new phone lines out here.

we have weather storms, the internet has traffic storms....

My pages on this site load as fast as ever. It is MSN where I go to pick up my mail that is so S L O W. Feels like I have my old 14400 dial-up modem back when ever I go to check my mail. This is coming from a house that plays three MMORPG's at the same time with no lag. No, Pen & Paper is still operating within normal parameters.

I've noticed the occasional latency. Traffic comes and goes. It most likely has more to do the with the guy on your node down the street downloading Debbie does the Western World, than with something at the fourm.

on the occasion that this site bogs down for me, it's always at the exact same time. it's trying to access a google ad of some type and taking forever to do it. but it doesn't happen too often, so i've ignored it thus far. except to mention it here. ^^

Does that slow down the rest of the page? We use Google Analytics for tracking web utilization. I have noticed in the past that sometimes the webpage loads entirely, but it keeps clocking while running the Analytics script. Since it is in the footer, it shouldn't prevent the rest of the page from loading first though. It hasn't for me, in any case.
