Hmm.....this needs to be a header for a warning that this thread is humorous and nobody should be going postal or rather lettting nerd fury overtake them when they read it.

OK.

I will post it and then see...

Gotcha.

Alright, I can't be serious all the time. Sorry, just ain't gonna happen. So whoever would like to do a participatory camp song sing along feel free to join in.

BUT:

1) Read the forum rules on courtesy and respect
2) Do not violate intellectual property laws
3) Make up your own lyrics or repeat somebody elses but do NOT block quote other people's nonsense.

-OK, if we all do that I think we could have some good clean fun.

Now without further ado I will try to quote myself and start the show off.

-"Alrighty Then...." <clearing throat> (imitation old TV State variety show)

1)
All my lyrics will come from

ttp://lyricwiki.org/Main_Page

I believe all the lyrics there are the work of volunteers and so under the States intellectual property laws they can be used as a reference. If I am wrong please correct me.

2) The song I want to spoof tonight is:

Poison:Rockstar

WARNING: Lyrics have adult content search for them at your own risk.

The anthema I want to build on is:

"Who the heck you guys think you are, rockstars or somethiní?
Oh Yeah!

(Lyrics removed)....

(anthema)

I wanna be a big rockstar, yeah
I wanna drive a big black car, yeah
All the girlsíll stroke on my guitar
When Iím a big rock star... "

Bold=explitives removed from wiki post.

Now here is how the game is played....

Reburn:

"Who the heck you Zirs think you are, rockstars or somethiní?
Oh Yeah!

(Lyrics removed)....

(anthema)

I wanna be a big board star, yeah
I wanna type a big pink MAC, yeah
All the girlsíll stroke on my 'hedrons
When Iím a big board star... "

Bold=replacements on anthema

And as for "pink"; well the color is open for discussion.

I mean really people, black Macinotsh computer are almost as cool as the white ones that have those LED lights built into their white panels so they glow in the dark. HECK, those LED lights can even do power conservation depending on the drivers installed.

This NEW Song has to be the plaintaive electronic whine of a geek making music on his old Dell Computer at home with a MIDI music composer because he can't...

play the GUITAR... but

ze dreams, ze dreams of that sunny day when the MAC, the big MAC will be his and all the girls will want his computer.

-LOL :D

OK, was that too outrageous sysadmins?

Little boxes in the handbook, Little boxes made of wood
Little boxes in the handbook, little boxes all the same
There's a green one and a pink one and a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out for classes and they all look just the same.

And the people in the castles all belong to shiny classes
Where they were put in boxes and they came out all the same,
And there's clerics and there's rangers, and multi-classes
And they're all made out of shiny xp and they all look just the same.

And they all play in the dungeon and drink their magic potions,
And they all run after monsters and the monsters have hit points
And the monsters await people and then they play with them
Then they are put in boxes and they die out all the same.

<snicker!>

EVIL!

OK....You are MUCH better then me. I think you should build a guitar too. (grin)

Little Boxes in the guitar, Little boxes made of glass, Little boxes in the bubble cams...

Now here is your post (mangled)

Little boxes in the Laptop, Little boxes made of SALTs
Little boxes in the handbook, little boxes all the same
There's a green one and a pink one and a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out for classes and they all look just the same.

And the people in the castles all belong to shiny classes (awesome line)
Where they were put in boxes
to look through glasses, distorted glasses (insert)
SO and they all come out the same,

And there's clerics and there's rangers, and multi-classes
And they're all made out of shiny xp and they all look just the same...

BUT They're NOT! (the kid chime in part)

because....

Sorry, I will need to learn some musical scoring before I will be able to be useful on this awesome CAMP SONG Re-Verb.

All I can say is I have never met two people that are alike and I hope we teach the children that boxes can be unpacked...even if you are in the inside.

Be Well,

Jonathan S. Kwiat

And I can't help but hear this all as being done off key in a karioki (not sure of spelling, but I'm sure it's wrong) bar.

"M-M-O's Killed the Radio Star"

It was once asserted, in a game of trivial pursuit I was in that "Radio Killed the Video Star" was the first song played when MTV went live back in the early 80's.

I think that would be really cute if it is true. Regardless I think it is a great song because:

It is eight count, clear up and down beat, has a refrain all of which make it eminently dance-able.
The lyrics and melody vary sufficiently that you can be expressive with your dance or how you sing along with it.Anyway....let me see how I can mangle the lyrics.

Info from WikiLyrics:

"Amber Pacific:Video Killed The Radio Star

From LyricWiki

This song is performed by Amber Pacific."

"refrain":

I met your children
Oh-a oh

What did you tell them?
Video killed the radio star.
Video killed the radio star.

OK...let me try to reburn them a little:

I read about you in Dragonlance in Eight-Two
I stayed awake in bed playing Adventure too
If I was lonely I never had to feel blue.

Oh-a-oh

They made money on your Unix 'Zork' symphony
Rewritten by machine and new technology.
and now I understand the problem you can see.

I met their children.
Oh-ah-oh

What did we tell them?
M-M-Os killed the D And D star.
M-M-Os killed the D And D star.
In my mind and on my comp, I can't rewind they've gone DRM.

MY D And D starr.

You are my D And D star.
You are my D And D star.
MM0's killed you.

MMO's killed D And D

NeverWinter came and broke your heart.
Put the blame on VIST-A,
Put the Blame on OS-X,
but whatever that you do don't blame on the rain...
don't blame on yourself,
you are not into yoga,
you have a BRAIN

so let's "Escape"

(referencing another song entitled 'Fantasy 'escape' you know "I got tired of my lady.,.and then I read "If you like pinenacolodas...dancing in the rain. IF you are not in to YOGA, if you hald half a BRAIN...if you like walks after midnight...blah blah blah... write to ME and we'll ESCAPE)

blame it on me because...

I forgot how to escape.

I am never lonely and you are never dead....you are D And D star.

MMO's killed the RPG star (repeat)

BUT they didn't know your were a Phoe-nix...they thought you were from Detroit. So like from flames from the ASH-es write to me and let's IGNITE!!!

You are my D And D star.

Ah-O-Ah

I met their children!? What should WE tell them!?

-snicker

Later Alligators,

Jonathan

-Well, don't knock Karoke till you tried it and if you suck at it or think others do you missed the point. Sure it has a scoring system, and it can be fudged if you just hit the tempo, sometimes, but I'd rather play "DDR" with a partner besides be any day of the week as be both carol out the lyrics to the MIDI song then hand out with a bunch of professional typists online that I do not even know.

I do not do Evercrack, I do not like it in a bun, I do not like it on the run, I DO NOT LIKE GREEN HAMS AND EGGS!!!

That would be cool if we could put a group together and record the last one. Could even see about having runing as background music on this thread.

It really would be cool, unfortunately I am not THAT musical.

Here is what I need to do:

1) Find the Sheet Music for this Song and the Lyrics

2) Rescore it so I am not doing copyright infringement.
The so called "fair use" clause in the United States is never a good defense against somebody that wants to threaten you with litigation.

I will never waste my time by posting something that will simply be struck down by a embedded Lawyer Jock and his web spiders

3) Arrange a Copyright or TM that enforces open source on the song

It is sad but since so many people want to make a living off of everything there is nothing to prevent somebody from simply copy and pasting somebodies work, putting it on their portal and then trademarking the result so that even the authors of the original material have to pay the Lawyer Jock to hear their own song.

Well, I will look for the sheet music as I try to teach myself to crudely play the guitar. That project is for my own reasons. I aim to build my own electronic opensource Linux Guitar because I bored and I need a hobby that will train me in the ways of the mind, in the area of:

Technology
Open Source Camp Songs
Singing
Musicality

All of which will enhance my life so...

well I'd love to see such a creative effort myself and I'll help anybody out in the ways I can to score an opensource song.

Be Well,

Jonathan

If there would ever be a time that the three of us would by chance be in the same place, I bet tesral and myself would probably be able to be of assistance in the music department.:drum:

OK, I am looking in to this for myself.

I hope that goes without saying. I got my 'intro to guitar' book from Sam Ash with the DVD tutorial. I no have an Open Source midi composer called "RoseGarden" that runs in LINUX.

But the intellectual property rights and the "fair use clause" of the millenium copyright clause for the United States is so ambigious that even law school didn't explain it to me.

There is no way I am going to have RCA or some other stupid "little" push group send me some nasty letters in the mail and have me have to give over whatever I compose to them.

Personally, I rather just deconstruct a song totally, rewrite everything, and have all the documentation to prove it because then I'll (TM) it thank you very much and put it under a GNU, or some sort of open source intellectual property law and THEN when some smart aleck wants to make a NICKLE off of it say by claiming be posting it to a copyrighted board makes it their property...

OH, I have some lawyer friends of mine that would sue those guys and gals pro bono.

But all of that takes preparation and right now I need to learn more music theory anyway so...

Email me or private message me.

I can do it now! I think I can really sing the lyrics out now. It took a long time but I do swing dance, east coast lindy dance, and recently I just had a lot of time to practice lip syncing. I hope to try this soon.
