{more specific, actually. so, from what i've gathered so far, Sarissa is closest and everyone else is in a chain? is the chain a line? or since several were standing next to Master Kloome, is it more of a group? and she going to reach over and touch the gem from where she's standing? just need a precise physical description.... basically, this will determine how many go through at a time, that's all. which might be important. ^^ }

There is an expectant pause. Sarissa and Maleficent lean over and touches the gem. Everyone has just enough time to brace themselves as it glows. Nothing happens. However, the gem continues to glow and there is that 'sense' of leashed power just waiting for an outlet.

Big reddish flash. There is a peculiar sensation, half-sliding, half-falling. You seem to bounce off of something several times before finally continuing on. There is a brief sensation of danger and inimical intent. Finally there is another red flash. Everything slowly fades from red into the other colors of the spectrum.

Sound returns with a roar. Literal roar. Multiple roars. Almost on top of you looms a multi-headed monstrosity! Blue-white, scales, snapping fangs, lots of heads is all you have time to take in before the creature attacks!

The creature's heads whip back at your sudden appearance, but quickly thrust forward to take advantage of this unexpected bounty.... You belatedly hear a yell from Master Kloome, "Look out!" He is sprawled over against the wall of the dome by the gate.

The monster eagerly looks forward to a snack!

...ok so in the initial roll i botched the amount of dmg that gil's 2nd claw is supposed to do. it does 1d4 not 1d2. and his bite attack is only at +14 not +20 so the roll should end up being 17. also ignore the reroll.

Gil is going for the heads. If I'm casting magic missile it says that I can't target specific parts of the creature with it.

I don't like eating an AOO for every time I attack a head. BTW remember that the hydra has a 20% miss chance against her due to her gleaming armor.

Arivale raises his bow to attack. There is a sudden surge of odd energy from the rug... somehow it seems off. The surge hits Arivale and pops outward from him, shunting everyone harmlessly over a few feet. He disappears with a reddish flash, and is immediately replaced with two reddish flashes. Two new individuals are now standing where Arivale was.

I forgot to note in the character description how Jacinth glows with the light of the sun (per Daylight spell). Oops, I forgot about the effects of the Profane Rain. Please disregard the Daylight effect. Shashakhad usually looks like a rather nondescrept human. I've adjusted my character descriptions.


When we arrive Jacinth will have cast Bull's Strength on each of us as well as a Bless. Shashakhad will have set up the Mind Link between the two of us too. Another oops- disregard the Bull's Strength's and Bless spells.

Jacinth charges in at the hydra's body screaming, "Pelor guide my hand!"

Shashakhad shakes his head at Jacinth and holds his action, waiting to see if any of the others attack them. If they are attacked, he will shoot an arrow at the (first) attacker. If none of the people attack, he will not act this round.

By Mindlink, (StDK) What are you doing? These people could be the enemy. (JtB) No, the enemy are large attackers with clawed feet. These people are normal sized defenders with boots and shoes.

Oops, I forgot to add +3 to Jacinth's attacks and +2 to damage rolls for his increased strength and bless spell. Again please disregard.

Gil rears and shambles forward with deceptive speed. He roars as he slashes with his long claws... severing a head with each heavy blow. The hydra screeches in pain, and snaps back at him. Gil's answering snap of his teeth closes on air. From the neck stumps some ichor spurts, but quickly stops.

Hydra takes opportunity to attack Gil!
The hydra's neck starts growing again!

Veld waves his hands and shouts, projecting a glimmering arrow at the hydra. With the thrashing of the heads, the arrow misses, and eats a shallow hole into the thick rock walls.

Maleficent thrusts a hand towards the hydra, and a bolt of livid purple projects from her outstretched limb. It strikes the hydra, leaving a burned wound on it's side. The hydra increases it's ear-splitting racket.

Sarissa moves over slightly and slashes at the hydra, weaving a glittering thread of steel. Her first solid strike lands upon a more heavily scaled region without much affect. Her second finds a soft spot and cuts deep. Her third solid strike is, alas, highly effective against the now broken flagstone tile of the courtyard.

One of the two newly arrived men promptly attack the hydra landing a heavy blow, but the other looks around warily, assessing the situation.

The hydra shakes its head frills in rage, and gapes open the many mouths. Jets of mist spray forth, raining a freezing cold breath down on everyone.

What are the d100 rolls for? Also, I was not clear on layout: Was Sarissa within 5' of the hydra? If so, she would not have used Hustle. Finally, what's the save DC for the hydra's breath? If it's a 10-headed hydra (which I assume it is because it breathed 10 times), then the DC would be 10+1/2 hydra's hit dice(5)+hydra's Con mod (5)=20.

In any case, Sarissa's saves are (Ref +16):
head 1, 11/5 damage
head 2, 14/7 damage
head 3, 9/4 damage
head 4, 17/8 damage
head 5, 9/4 damage

So she took 11+7+4+8+4=34 points of damage. However, she has Energy Adaptation, which resists the first 30 points of damage, so she ends up taking 4.

Sarissa is bathed in the freezing mist, but her inner power protects her, absorbing it; she suffers only minor frostbite. She begins to glow with pale light. {ooc: She will be glowing for the next 30 rounds.}

yes, so you did not use hustle.

Finally, what's the save DC for the hydra's breath?

it's a twelve headed, gil severed two with his attacks. thus, the save dc is 22. but it will shortly be a 14-headed, if the party doesn't hurry.... =D

{sorry for the messy post, i'll pay closer attention to those details in the future! i'm still trying to figure a way to integrate maps with the posts, maybe i'll host an image or something. }

Sarissa cries, "Unless you have a way to burn the stumps, forget the heads! We can damage the body enough to kill it, I think!"

She then coats her sword with acid and attacks. {ooc: She wild-surges with a 20% chance of enervation on a 01-20. If enervation occurs, she postpones it for 3 rounds with her Postpone Enervation feat. She then proceeds to manifest a quickened Dissolving Weapon at 19th level, expending her focus. With her Chaotic Surge ability, it does the following damage: 01-25, 50%; 26-50, 100%; 51-75, 150%, 76-100, maximized.

After that, she makes a full attack. She moves to flank Gil if possible. I am making rolls assuming that she does NOT have a flanking bonus; if she does, please add +2. She does not power attack.

She is not enervated, and her power is maximized. Her acid does 13d6 (she's manifesting at 19th level, but loses 6 power points due to quickening). She hits (I assume 29 and 24 are hits) twice, missing once (with another fumble). Total damage=4d6+18 from the sword and 78 from acid.

{{{i'm hoping for a bit sooner than that... but to be honest, i won't know till i get there and settled in. ^^ i'm moving tomorrow, so i'll be offline for a week while we travel to our new location, at least, unless the stops along the way have free wifi. i don't know how long it'll be before i get access again. but if i have to drop by the local library or restaurant for wifi, i will. =D
