Just got into D&D just a bit before the announcement of 4E. I invested a bunch in 3.5 so I really want to get moving and find a group. I've read a lot but only played a very little bit. I'm in the Southeast portion of VA.

Well I have it on good athority that the print does not fall off the old books when a new edition is shoved out. Ergo, you can use that edition forever if you prefer. I know of games that are still running uder 1st edition rules.

Any case welcome to the fourm. Player Registry is the first place to go.

I live in the Petersburg, Va area and looking for a game to join. I haven't played in a while, but i still have the books on my laptop. I could run one-shot dungeons, but have always want to run a campaign. If someone could give me a little advice on how to run an online game and how to set up a long-term campaign.

Hello and welcome. I will second what tesral said about using 3.5 and checking the player registry. Good luck in your game search.

I would suggest chatting with nijineko. He seems to be rather knowledgable about online games.

I know I just have this paranoia of not being able to use it all. Then again maybe running a game wouldn't be a bad idea. *shrug*

Welcome aboard!
You are a good sight, new blood in the gaming world!
I love the Dragonlance novels, playing in that setting much less.
For finding players the Player Registry (http://www.penandpapergames.com/forums/memberlist.php) is a terrific tool and for recruiting players as a DM the Campaign Invitations (http://www.penandpapergames.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=17) forum is perfect. Feel free to join in the discussions. I wish you the best of luck in your search!
