Sadly, Gary Gygax, progenitor of the most popular roleplaying game to this day, Dungeons and Dragons, has died at the age of sixty-nine. I never personally met the man, but I have enjoyed the fruits of his labor since I was only twelve years old. It is a sad day in the RPG world indeed...

He freed us from the fetters of modern and mundane life.

Thanks Gary, you'll be sorely missed:(

Raises a glass for the man. Never met the man, but I met some good people through D&D, so I wish his spirit well.

I've known the man for 25 years...but I have never met him. He has been a strong force in my life for that time, giving me one fantastic journey after another...he will be missed...I hope there's a D&D heaven...:(

I did meet him, and he seemed like a good guy. His legacy will live on in every RPG that is played.

If I am to raise a glass, would it not be more honourable to raise his prefered beverage? taking a guess (Mountain Dew?)

Like everyone else has said if it weren't for his imagination - I wouldn't have made the friends I've made and had the fun I've had.

Cheers to the original DM - may his memory and legacy live long with us all!

Guess he rolled a 1 on that final save...

Never met the man, but have a lot of respect for what he accomplished. Wish I could have played in one of those campaign he was running until recently.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family, and I wish him a peaceful rest.
