greetings all,

I am one of those who recently made it over here by way of a new found friend at Dragonsfoot (http://www.dragonsfoot.org). I had started rummaging around over there in the last few weeks after a very long absence from tabletop gaming and in dire need of some old school AD&D chatter. Turns out this new friend will be introducing me to Castles & Crusades (http://www.trolllord.com/newsite/) in a few weeks. I'm looking forward to it too!

Looking around here, this seems like the type of community I wish I would have found before I burned up 5 years of my life playing/DMing/building for the Neverwinter Nights CRPG. I had turned to NWN after losing the fight against 3E tabletop gaming several years ago.

But it's refreshing to see that there are still fans of the older editions of our beloved D&D games - no matter which edition you choose to cherish. Personally, I am still longing to return to the days of AD&D 2E gaming (though I have no aversion to basic D&D or classic AD&D). But 2nd edition is where I spent the bulk of my gaming years between '83-'99. And did we ever have some outstanding and memorable campaigns in those years! HUZZAH!

Regardless, I appreciate those who developed this community. I think I just found one of several new homes. :D

Take care and STAY TRUE!!!

Hello and welcome aboard. You will find that most on here are more for 3e as opposed to 2e (aka AD&D 2nd Edition). Like yourself, my background is with 2e. Are you familiar with the Dragonlance series. There are some discussions on here about the Dragons of Autumn Twilight that was recently released.

Good to find other old school gamers. I played AD&D either edition for years. I am adapting my current adaption of AD&D, MD&D 2.5 into MD&D 2.8 with the best features of 3e that don't change the flavor of my game. It's fun.
