so i was thinking we need a button in the forums that is "mark as read" so that you can just click it and it will mark all the threads that you have no interest in as read. This way you no longer are staring at a forum full of deadly bold text highlighting stuff you have no interest in.

There is an item in the Quick Links that marks All posts read, but I haven't seen one where you can do it on a per forum basis.
That would be nice.

When you are viewing the thread listing under the forum, you can go to Forum Tools -> Mark This Forum Read. That would take care of it for you.

Go into one of the Sub forums like Terrain. On the top right will be the Forum Tools in Black and white. Click it with your mouse and scroll down to 'mark this forum read', rinse and repeat as necessary.
Does that work for you?

Even when I mark the whole forum as read it doesn't get me rid of them

It seems to work for me, hmmm.... not sure what the problem is.
Have you considered just putting rabid posters on ignore? :p

Take a look at the picture I posted, I'm not talking of regular post, I'm talking of article post announcement.
The only way to get rid of them is to click on each link which is a bit annoying

Sorry, my bad. In your picture, click on the Modern/universal. Under the sub forums list is a title- Threads in Forum : Modern / Universal System where you can turn those off with forum tools. Although if there is only one, it is about the same hassle as just clicking on each separately. Not sure about the user pages.

To get rid of the announcement, you can also open it. After that, it goes away.

Mulsiphix -- posts a lot? Hadn't noticed :pYou want to know something really sad? I try to practice a great deal of self control. If I didn't do this I would respond to every last post and topic. I'm a conversation fiend. I just can't get enough
