Hola.
I'm a 30-year-old ADOM-obsessed gamer chick from NYC who met my husband over a game of In Nomine about four years ago. I was introduced to gaming in undergrad, so I'm still technically in the throes of gaming obsession, but due to living overseas and work have primarily gamed via MUSHes and IM. As my husband is rabidly anti-DnD, I've been looking for a roleplaying intensive (with a little hack'n'slash for fun) DnD game for ages - I first played 2e and own the books for 2e, 3e and 3.5e although am horrible at number crunching and strongly adhere to the "wing it" philosophy of gaming and GMing.
I currently run a very strong In Nomine game on RPoL but would like to get back into actual table-top gaming, which I've only done a handful of times. Most of which was in an all-girl group which was awesome and I'd like to find another such group of like minded ladies.
In my spare time, I'm a Librarian in the NYC metropolitan area.

Welcome to the site, young lady. How can yer hubby be anti d&d and yet love IN? They are basicly the same except d&d is heavily p'n'p. That's pen and paper.
Me? I got out of d&d a long time ago, in favor of other rp games. I still use d&d books for background material but currently am transferring an old campaigne over to PDQ (from Atomic Sock Monkey)
Thus gaming becomes more about Roll-Playing the character and less about adding and subtracting all those bonusussuss, etc.
Keeping having fun!!!

Welcome to the community! For finding players the Player Registry (http://www.penandpapergames.com/forums/memberlist.php) is an invaluable tool and for recruiting players as a DM the Campaign Invitations (http://www.penandpapergames.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=17) forum is perfect. Please join us in on any of the various topics being discussed in the forums. For best results taking the initiative to contact players in your area should greatly increase your chances of finding others to game with. Many players are in groups that have openings but since they aren't the GM they don't go out of their way to recruit new players for the game. I wish you the best of luck in finding gaming bliss in the near future.

librarian internationally-sophisticated gamer chick? you must have to beat them off with sticks... despite your husband. congrats on the gamer spouse, and welcome to the forums! d&d's not all bad, it's really more who you play with. but the fiddlely numbers do get to be a headache. i wouldn't let him try rolemaster if i were you then. there's lots of options around here, and if the tabletop doesn't come through, there's always virtual tabletop available too! check out the online pnp options!

Hey, I've got one. Smart girls look for the smart guys. My wife is a gamer, a modeler, Star Trek and general SF fan, knows computers and is a cute redhead that bellydances.
PS I have a stick handy.

If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life
Never make a prissy woman your wife
Go for my personal point of view
Get a gamer girl to marry you

Ok guys we're spooking the lady now. And it's a wonder why female role players are kind of rare :)

Welcome. I likewise have history with all sorts of roleplaying games. I used to play those internet/ Compuserve MUDs until they charged me a fortune and my parents almost killed me because I was using dial-up.
Don't worry there is lots of D&D that does not play like D&D.

I think it has something to do with a campaign titled "The Quest for the Mystical Morning Wood" and a surly dwarf. He doesn't talk about it much:)

Only the sleazy ones... I've found that most of the guys I gamed with were very cool. I was really lucky to marry a gamer who (a) introduced me to Star Trek and (b) didn't commit me when I had the urge to hunt Owlbears. I dated a lot of "normal" guys and it just didn't work out.

When I was in Japan, I played Mushes on dial-up for three days. Then I had to beg my Board of Education for ADSL - just for the slowness factor. I used to play in Treyvan that went defunct a while ago.

Nice. Well I wouldn't mind doing some online games but I have to say I spend too much of my personal time parked in front of my desktop as it is.
I never did get to build that Atom bomb though. I used to just wait for them to sysops to press the "RESET" button so I could get treasure and level up. Not that this approach worked with the people whose characters had long names, typing bots, and who were professional killers. Those players always knocked me off before I got past Enchanter level.
The A-Bomb needed 15 parts I was just frustrated with the killers not leaving me alone even when I kept my mouth shut and my head down.
Anyway...
Welcome,
Jonathan
