Hi all. I was encouraged by the site to announce my presence, and as such, I shall. I'm new to the Ft. Worth side of the Metroplex and looking to get involved in a game and meet a few people around here. I'm available nights on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. My tastes run more towards cinematic action and melodrama than realistic games and intense strategic play. I'm moderately familiar with D&D and the new World of Darkness, as well as Big Eyes Small Mouth (prefer 2nd edition) and to a lesser extent Mutants and Masterminds. I've got a rather limited experience with GURPS (which I'm not particularly looking to extend) and Call of Cthulu. I'd be interested in giving some space opera a whirl as well, though I'm not that familiar with many licensed properties. A mecha game could be fun if it leaned towards the Japanese super robot style instead of the American real robot style (i.e. more Gundam than BattleTech).

Hello and welcome aborad! Be sure to check the player registry and campaign invitation sections. I've seen several people on the site from Texas, so maybe some of them will be in your area.

Welcome to the community! For finding players the Player Registry (http://www.penandpapergames.com/forums/memberlist.php) is an invaluable tool and for recruiting players as a DM the Campaign Invitations (http://www.penandpapergames.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=17) forum is perfect. Please join us in on any of the various topics being discussed in the forums. For best results taking the initiative to contact players in your area should greatly increase your chances of finding others to game with. Many players are in groups that have openings but since they aren't the GM they don't go out of their way to recruit new players for the game. I wish you the best of luck in finding gaming bliss in the near future.

Well, thanks for the suggestions from everyone. I do appreciate them.
Rabkala, here's what I like about BESM: easy, flexible rules: The character generation system offers the flexibility of a highly customizable point-buy without the disad munchkinism of GURPS. Rolls are all 2d6 based stat + skill (without complicated penalties for lacking a specific skill) roll low mechanic. Combat resolution boils down to two rolls, without a lot of dithering over ranges and whatnot. It can handle ultra low end power games (i.e. a bunch of normal high school students having a romantic comedy) or high end power games (super robots fighting hordes of aliens) with reasonable ease.

I enjoyed it very much. I didn't take the system seriously but now plan on looking it up. Time to make those Hentai games I've been dreaming about :p (not really )
