Check out this new article Wizards of the Coast posted recently:

Countdown to the Realms: Magic in the Forgotten Realms (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drfe/20080130a)

Magical power and fantastic features abound in the Forgotten Realms. If fact, the Realms are so awash with magic that the world proved particularly vulnerable to a plague that fed on magic itself.

This article has the most information about the specific effects of the Spellplauge in Forgotten Realms that I have seen to date. It is well worth the read.

Yes, interesting. Will it still feel like the realms despite all the changes?

Looks like the favorites: Cormyr and Waterdeep only grew stronger. I still don't see the impact of the Abeir (Maztica absorbed) new continent.

I would like to hear at least some reference to Zakhara and Kara-Tur.
