Check out this new article Wizards of the Coast posted recently:

D&D Miniatures: Desert of Desolation Stat Cards (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mi/20080124a)

It's been a wait -- one fraught with speculation, anticipation, trepidation, misinformation -- and now revelation. The first set of updated D&D Miniatures cards are ready to be unveiled, inspected, and playtested.

Revelation? Hardly. What's up with these game corporations and their arrogance? They love to torture us and then act like their the gaming version of a messiah. It's just the new rules, baby, just the new rules.

If the rules are an improvement then this is good news. Technically if there is any new content these rules qualify as a revelation ;)

I was using sarcasm. It hardly qualifies for the second definition. Players have known this was coming, indeed, WOTC even gave us a time line.

However, I see your point on another level. I'll play nice. I'm just tired of the talk, I'm ready to play already!! :D

I again say hats off to WoTC for offering this as a free download! Thanks guys, this is the greatest 4e conversion yet!

I for one, welcome our new alien overlords! May they crush us into our respective place and keep the jackbooted heels of authority tight like a warm blanket. :D

I was attempting to be sarcastic myself :D. I'm dying to see the communities (as a whole) reaction to 4E. Anybody know "how long" that period constitutes? How long is long enough?

I think about a year will show reaction to the new edition, probably including supplemental material released by WOTC. I remember that (for 3ed D&D) characters advanced so quickly Wizards came up with the whole "EPIC" idea for characters.

So has anyone played with the new rules yet? Do the cards fit the preprinted sheets of blank cards one finds at office supply stores?

I've got a Desert of Desolation ebay bid enroute, which should be sufficient for me to build a small Borderlands army. I'll let you know how it goes once I can get them to see some action.
