View Full Version : Hmm..Monster help?

I've offered to take over a game at Barrok's Tower, the group is level 1, generally on the good/neutral side. Barrok was the DM, and thru a series of illnesses and computer problems gave this game (as well as the game I was participating in), over to another person to temp DM. As this temp DM only posted a few times and left both games to fall apart myself and another player decided to find our own DMs for both games.

Anyway long story short, the game I'm taking over the temp DM had everyone roll initative, and stopped posting shortly after s/he asked fo initative. They are in canoes, which they got to via a Cave, then a tunnel. Subsecquently the party saw bubbles rise out of the water, and several creatures:

"Pale white arms burst from the water to flail at the sides of your craft. The mottled flesh gives off a distinctive odour of decay, and in some places jagged bone is visible. The rest of the creatures quickly follow, hairless heads and torsos that accompany strangely burning eyes deep with sunken sockets."

For some reason, I can only think of is Scrags, although don't necessary fit the above picture. Aquatic Elves and Merfolk are out of the question, due to the appearance. Several other aquatic subtypes seem to not fit either.

Are there any creatures I'm overlooking?

Hmmm... Scrags are way too powerful for first level.
Zombies maybe.

No, wait. Lacedon (aquatic ghoul) is the most likely.

Thanks, rabkala

Yes, I would agree with Rabkala, that this is a lacedon. They are rare though, so there should not be a very large number of them attacking.

Rare means they're hard to find. It doesn't mean they don't travel in packs or procreate right?

The previous DM only rolled init for 2 of them. Shouldn't be too hard. ;)
