My goal is to start a group of gamers that are familiar with AD&D and just like to play for the fun of it. Imagination, adventure, escape, and some laughs are what it's about for me. The people I used to play with in high school, and still do after 20 years, are married, with children, and careers, and just want to have a good time playing a familiar old game they grew up on. Those are the type of gamers I'm looking for, although being married with children is not mandatory. Creeps, anti-socials, and jerks, need not apply. Over 21 only. Alcohol is allowed, but only in moderation. Sorry, smoking inside is not permitted. Looking to play weekly or bi-weekly. Tues, Wed, or Thurs nights from 7-10pm. Weekend afternoons may be possible.

Game mechanics are simple. All 1ed reference books only, including UE. I don't allow quotations from them during game play, and certainly don't want to hear them afterwards either. It's a game, not reality, what the DM says, goes. Adversarial and combative behavior between players or DM will not be tollerated. Notes and map making encouraged. Resurrections are unlikely so play well and craft characters with care. Disposable characters are not encouraged, this is a campaign setting and hopefully will last a long time. Miniatures are welcome. Dry erase boards and hex maps are used. Notes are passed when needed for privacy. Players are encouraged to discuss things when situations permit. The initiative system is used to determine all action so that only one person is talking to the DM and interruption/shouting is minimized. Evil & Chaotic Neutral characters are not allowed. Roleplaying for me is playing your character, not acting. If your character is a fighter, and he/she wants to advance in experience then they will engage in combat whenever possible, and that is roleplaying. A mage will prefer to advance in the use of spell craft and magic items and will attempt to do so while avoiding physical combat whenever possible, and that's roleplaying also. Portraying characters and acting is not my forte, however players may interpret their characters however they wish. PC deaths are highly unlikey, and only the cumulative result of very poor decisions, or major plot devices. Ability scores are often rolled to determine weather characters are able to do something, or percentage dice are rolled. Weapon specialization is expanded, spell cantrips as well. Critical hits/misses, and "called shots" are in effect. EXP are awarded for treasure, combat, character class experience & performance. Multi class characters are allowed, if non-human. Combat heavy scenarios are common.

Dm style is benevolent. I prefer to use a 3rd person narrative style. Adventure and imagination are encouraged. I believe in having fun during the game and not telling people "no" all the time. Characters are allowed certain latitude and are encouraged to think outside the box. My purpose is to create an adventure for you to complete, it serves no purpose to kill characters, or to oppose their goals.

The setting: A group of friends have journeyed away from home in search of adventure and fortune and after a long days' trek seek shelter at a nearby town. As night falls they enter a clearing on a hill-top overlooking the town below. There, as the spring moon rises into the night sky, a strange alignment of stars are seen by all. As you marvel at this strange sign your hear the sounds of battle ring-out nearby! There is a mist rising, and within it there are cries for help. Instinctively you rush forward to lend aid, and are over-come by the mist or something else, you can't tell. It is a strange mist indeed. Soon enough you find your way through the mist and into the midst of a battle between what appear to be dwarves and larger humanoid creatures of greater numbers. Again you are in a clearing atop a hill, but the terrain is unrecognizable. Your eyes are drawn to the same constellation in the sky, and as the clouds pass over it, you realize that the creatures seem to have taken notice of you. What do you do?
