Alright, looks like we are going to attempt another meetup and see if we can get a decent showing!

Current schedule is for Jan 12th, but that is still variable depending on the response we get. Details like time and location are up for suggestion as well, so please chime in when and where would be good for you!

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Daniel

I'm in. Anywhere is fine with me. A place that probably won't be too crowded or noisy would be ideal, especially if there's parking available.

What will we be doing? Did you want to run a one-shot game?

well, if we hold this thing at a game store i could run a demo of a new Atlas Games card game called Mad Scientist University.

Or i could find a Demo game for an rpg somewhere.

You mentioned Empire Games. I haven't been there before, but it sounds workable.

Or i could find a Demo game for an rpg somewhere. I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of card games; I'd go for the RPG, myself. But either will work. Currently there are 5 Yeses and 9 Maybes, for a total of 14. If half of those show, that would be 7.

Should we plan on Empire Games? Do we need to make a reservation?

i can talk to the owner and see if that would be a good day, i know they have at least one other gaming group there on Saturdays. but i don't see any problem.

so what game genre does everyone want to play?

Fantasy is always safe. For a one-shot, though, I think just about anything would be okay. I'm pretty flexible, myself.

ok, i think i found a good quick start +adventure that will go well.

how about a time?

Empire games sounds ideal.

Do you want to go ahead and post an address once you get the "official" ok from the store?

Also perhaps could you check with the store and see when they have other groups there? That may influence what time we would want to meet.

Thank you for doing the legwork on this! I really appreciate the initiative! :)

My usual morning commitment is moved to the evening. So for me to attend it would need to be afternoon/late morning.

Anyone else have any scheduling constraints?

Late morning or early afternoon works for me.

What do we want to do about food?

ok, the store opens at 12 and they have are not having any special events going on that day. There will be one group of autistic kids there in the afternoon that the store owner and one other guy teach/run games for once awhile. But other than that we are good for having the meetup at any time.

the address is SE 7979 foster rd and 80th next to the fred myers.

Domino's sounds like a good option. It's $7 now.

Just a quick note for everyone, Empire Games is moving soon. They aren't going far but will be in a bigger store once the move is finished. I am an assistant organizer for the Portland D&D meetup group and hold events at Empire games occasionally. Mike is a great host and really does his best to make his customers happy.

Edward
Friday 01-11-2008, 11:53 PM
Can we meet at a certain table or a certain part of the store?

Some people probably won't check the thread before then. Maybe we should have a sign.

ok, well I'm an overweight guy with long hair... crap... it is a gaming store, maybe thats too general?? :D

I'll try to scrounge up some paper and a pen to make signs with. If nothing else just walk around yelling "I'm a geek and I'm looking for my group of friends" one of us will probably hear you and wave you over...

so i thought the meet up went well and that we should talk about setting up the next for maybe in 2 months.. or even having the next one setup to take place at the Gamestorm Convention.

Yes, I thought the meetup went well, too. It was nice meeting everyone.

I probably won't know whether I can make Gamestorm until the last minute. It looks interesting, though.
