I've known of this for some time now but since the Master of Links has failed to share this one with you I shall.

http://www.aarg.net/~minam/dungeon.cgi (http://www.aarg.net/%7Eminam/dungeon.cgi)

There are a lot of options and I've never missed with this application. I often start here with a dungeon and modify when appropriate. This is a great way to recharge the creative juices while still working on the story.

I have actually used some of these generators in the past. The NPC, dungeon, and treasure generators are pretty good for what they are. While they need some work, they are helpful in a pinch. The town generator might have some merit, but I found a better one a few years ago. It would give a map and breakdown of the buildings. (I'll have to check if I can find it again)

I use the dungeon generator just for the layout of the dungeon if I don't want to spend a lot of time on some dungeon that's not integral to the story. I find that the monsters they generate usually don't work for me because they aren't found in the area or some other reason due to the story.

awesome, thanks for the link, it'll be really useful for some of those curve balls that players can throw at DMs.
DM - "You want to go where?"
Player - "Into the dungeon"
DM - "Ummm ok, I'll be back in a couple mins gonna take a "toilet break"" - generate map and presto!

Found this character generator, rocks. It's excel and does a whole lot of the calculations for you. Or you can just go through its' steps and generate a character:

Uh, before I download. . .

This is a program? How many systems does it cover? How big is it?
etc.

It's your standard excel spreadsheet with macros. That is all.

It came from: http://www.rpgsheets.com/cgi-bin/arcdb.cgi?action=pop

Excel Character Generator 3.1c (http://www.rpgsheets.com/cgi-bin/arcdb.cgi?action=dl&id=2147)

Oh ok, that's cool thanks. I assume it's a D20 only sheet.:(

Yeah. D&D3.5 only. You could search the root site for other character sheet generators though. It's got a whole lot of forms.

This is (http://www.bin.sh/gaming/tools/dungeon.cgi) pretty much the same thing but the data is presented a little bit better in my opinion.

The GUI is much nicer than the first generator but I'm confused on the multi-level dungeons. The generator doesn't label the stairs so it all looks like one level.

This is a great find!!

While not as advanced as the other two mentioned I like the look of the maps generated with this generator (http://www.gozzys.com/article.php?cm_id=8) much better. Then again I usually only use the maps and fill in all the details myself.

Hi all. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm the new kid on the block so I thought it would be appropriate. I'm Jerry and I've been a player for about 3 years, then graduated to DM for about 10 years. Sort of got "disenchanted" with D&D and some of the other games systems around so I created my own. I have a campaign of 4 people and we like it alot. Found this site totally by accident (I was looking for a dungeon generator for those times I feel like being lazy). Looks good. Hope to hear from other gamers. Maybe we can trade some good ideas. Take care.

RPGplaneMapMaker 2.1 is free
it has 2videotutorials
Photoshop cs3 or superior is required to use it.
My personal opinion (but I am the creator...) is that my map maker is light years from the other ones. You don't have to place manually all the tiles (Who has the time to do it?!!) and you get a very nice (and huge) map in 2 minutes. It's not random, you decide how the map will look like.

The only one I use. Gives you options in the form of drop down boxes pretaining to monster/dungeon level, motif, shape, corridor style, room frequency and shape. And there are several themes to print off (steampunk, ice, my favorite is the asylum for abandoned areas. The pink and green look has started to scare players.) Then again if it's a DM's eyes only map there's black and white.

That site also hosts encounter generators, fractal map makers, and a loot calculator.

I have a site that has a random map maker but you can also edit it and save it too. The whole site is made to be a VTT but you can use the map maker for what it is too. My site is http://diavida.com
The original site where I got the random map maker is http://www.happyhikers.ca/temp/mapGenerator/MTMapGen/input.html You need Firefox 3.5+ for his site to work correctly. On my site it should work in any browser.
What do you think?

No problem. I share that place as much as possible hoping they'll add more and more with more visitors.
