Jacked UP! I like unique dice, but I would have to take a pass on those bad boys.

I just don't know if the outer layer is thick enough. DU isn't as radioactive as other forms of uranium but still it usually has an inch of shielding over it to protect handlers.

Surely it's inert.... otherwise balls would fall off.

Just thinking out loud is all. Might be that the small size renders it more or less inert. But when I took the saftey class about DU weapons and armor when I was in the Army they said 1 inch steel or equivalent shielding was needed. I'm thinking they are probably just lead all dressed up for the party. They would be light but they would fool most people.

External exposure to radiation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiation) from depleted uranium has generally not been considered a major concern because the alpha particle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_particle) emitted by its isotopes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isotope) travel only a few centimeters in air or can be stopped by a sheet of paper...
Both natural and Depleted Uranium are weakly radioactive. As with any radiation exposure, there is some chance of developing cancer, however exposure to either Depleted or Natural Uranium has never been proven to have resulted in a human cancer of any type.
Apparently, it is relatively benign. So says the great wikipedia. If the radiation coming from the DU can be stopped by a sheet of paper, then a layer of nickel should take care of it.
Still...
And what of the character who is printed on that sheet of paper? What chances might we be taking with their health???

Awe come on guys, we want to be radiated. Then we get the super cool powers like Spiderman or Captain Atom.
