View Full Version : Return to Volskygge

02-14-2015, 11:28 PM
What possessed Farengar Secret-Fire to leave his study is known to few. Nevertheless, he found himself in Haafingar on a cold day (as always) outside Volskygge. His hired help, Farkas the Companion and Rassiss the Rogue stood fearlessly by, allowing Farengar to take the lead.

Inside they discovered that some bandits had moved in, and two of them were shortly dispatched. How many more were inside, though, that was a different matter altogether.

We're aiming for Saturday morning, with room for one more. I'm proposing 8 o'clock Mountain, but I could do 7 if I have enough coffee.

Rulebook is here:
Skyrim info is here:

Hello DMMike, I contacted you through Obsidian Portal and you instructed me to come here and post a response in this thread. I'm hoping to join a gaming group. I'm extremely new at this so if it'll be too much of hassle taking on a newbie like myself I understand. Let me know though, for the most part I'm always free on Saturdays.

No hassle: the other three players are newbies too (to the RPG, not roleplaying). If you could make any Skyrim character (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Skyrim), who would it be? (This is called your character concept.)

"We need someone who can detect!" - Rassiss the "Barbaric Rogue"

Sooo....does 8 AM Mountain time work for everyone? 2-3 hour game? Who's gonna be there?

02-20-2015, 08:07 AM
I won't get out to brunch with the missus if we don't start at 7 Mountain, which is 14 GMT. And 3PM for Zus. Who's in?

02-20-2015, 06:50 PM
The two types that most appeal to me are the Redguard and Khajiit. Where will the meet up be? I could possibly do 7 am. What would I need to bring?

02-20-2015, 10:57 PM
Well I get off work at 6:30am and get home by 7am but I believe I am like an hour ahead being in the cst time zone so ill be ready.

Rassiss is a Khajiit born of the Swift-Claw Clan. He is a barbaric rogue of sorts wielding a battle axe and a throwing axe in combat. He has a weapon focus on the throwing axe as he is highly skilled with it even though it is his off hand weapon.

how do we play, where do we meet up? Should I create a character and if so, how?

02-20-2015, 11:26 PM
And I love the throwing axe speciality, it adds a nice bit of flair.

Ecurb, the meeting is here:

How you play is here:

Which includes how you create a character, but I can offer you a bard, hunter, thief, or priest. And a character sheet, if you want to print one, is here:

Danica Pure Spring the Priestess of Whiterun at your service. :)

Parting thought: the turn cycle would flow more smoothly if there was an Announce Action (or pass) phase, followed by a Rolling phase, in which anyone who had announced actions would roll their dice in initiative order (initiating character first). And then, I wouldn't be going up through 20 lines of chatroom text to see how much damage you rolled, and what my first defense was!

Good game today, by the way!

Thank you for inviting me DMMike. It was fun, but I cannot guarantee a weekly participation. I have a lot on my plate with my projects. I will however, stop by to watch whenever I can. I have been doing this for years and won't break that tradition. :)

My pleasure. Thanks for braving a new game! I wish I had a more roleplaying-centric module for you Mora, but like Donald Rumsfeld says, "you don't go to war with the army you wish you had."

If I manage to snag you again, I'll tip the scale in the other direction.

02-27-2015, 10:29 AM
Anyone want to RSVP for tomorrow? If not, I'll stop in the chatroom between 7-8 (GMT -7) tomorrow and see who wants to get their Thu'um on.

First game crashed for various reasons. I'll run another one for any diehard Skyrim fans with the following solutions:

- Game time determined by whole group, I guess weeknights are possible too.
- Roleplaying/combat blend is flexible, but the default (at least in Skyrim) is 75% combat.
- Players are required to read the rulebook, or at least the Fast Play Rules (https://modos-rpg.obsidianportal.com/wikis/appendix-a), before playing.
- We can use a rules module as well, in case the players want a more Skyrim, D&D, or other feel to the game.
