Curious? What is the most expensive miniature ever sold?

Do any of these miniatures add value or is there even a market for that?

Not sure on the most expensive, but some of the GW armies (many models) can go for a hefty price.

I was hoping someone answered this because I'm curious now too...

As far as value for a single model, some of the limited runs of Grenadier or Ral Partha go for really hefty prices. Some of the dragons are hundreds of dollars.

Just looked up a colossal red dragon mini that apparently sold for around $350.

I think it gets expensive when you start collecting them for a living. Kind of like those that enjoy train sets. I was wondering if any of these models increase in value over time to make it worthwhile, yet I see not much on this.

I know for hobbiest it isn't about that, but just was curious to know for I know someone that collects model cars and sells them years later for double the price. Only certain models though sell double or even triple the price later..it gets tricky!

Anyway thanks for the input. :)

This marks my second attempt to post this, due to deleting everything, when I accidentally clicked on another site and left this page. I had to start over after almost finishing the D&D part! ARGHH!

Well, I have a very large collection of Reaper, D&D, and Pathfinder minis that I actively sell (the duplicates) or trade. I have several trades going all the time.

The best and most accurate way that I like to determine current pricing is to look at eBay on the "Advanced Search" (top left corner of page). After going to "Advanced", then click on the "Sold" option. A second way to determine pricing is my ""holy grail"; ABPrices.com. This site takes 8-20 retailer's current pricing for a single mini.

The question asked above was such a great question, that I had to figure it out! I've never wondered what is the highest priced mini, even though I own a huge amount of minis.

NOTE: I'm displaying the lowest price from ABPrices (without adding the typical $1-3 shipping costs), after looking at the 25 D&D sets. If the price shows eBay then ABPrices aren't competitive or available. I'm only displaying a minis pricing that's around $30+

It also depends on what the mini is made out of. Minis made from resin tend to be more expensive than those made of other plastics. Minis sold at this place, http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/ (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/#&panel1-1) are really expensive partly because they're made from resin, oh and they're done on limited runs too.
