One of our favorite people is Deuce (Ericís brother-in-law Eric). The reason he is a favorite is that Deuce is a powergamer. We like to think of ourselves as powergamers (at times), but compared to Deuce we are hyper-immersive method actors.

We talk about some of Deuceís best power-built characters and the games that promoted their creation.

ah, we have one of those. we even have a special phrase with regards to characters he either designed or helped design. "PbR" or "Powered by Rich", with a number designation from +5 to +10 depending on how extreme a result he has managed this time around. you may recall my mentioning our freaky dice-karma dude? yeah, same guy.

he latest creation was so extreme that even he felt uncomfortable playing it in the group, and decided on his own to switch to a different concept. i believe the damage output was in excess of 90d8, per strike... and that's not a critical result, either. if i recall correctly, the dm's reaction was a silent but elegant drop of sweat running down his forehead, anime style. ^^ something like that.

you may have heard the amusing phrase, "oh fetch" as a mild expression of dismay. well for that character we were all going, "oh epic fetch."

amusingly enough, our group is actually called Epic Fetch (www.epicfetch.com (http://www.epicfetch.com)) but that is purely for an in-game encounter reason.

I wonder if there are a lot of groups with "that guy" in them. It seems that we have more than just one.

To be honest I have never heard "oh fetch" before.

it is region dependent, and occasionally culture dependent (outside of said region).

and to be honest, our group could be said to have three of them: "that guy", his brother - but for reasons of usually dm'ing and laziness he doesn't usually bother with it, after all he can just ask his brother to do it for him, and myself: who bends and twists the rules to the stress limit, but almost always subordinated in order to achieve a character concept that the game system just isn't really designed for and winds up being sub-par compared to a straight single-class character.
