hm, personally i've always preferred to creating unique supers rather than using someone else's.

how about getting creative with fluff versus mechanics? any good stories?

Thanks, Hyper. I wish I had seen this before it elapsed so I could take advantage of it.

I love the HERO system, because anything that I can think of doing I can do with the system. Yes the system and especially the character creation can be clunky, but with Hero Designer (a MUST), it is really not bad. I can make a full character in 1/2 hour or so, and it is much more detailed than other game systems. If I want to spend some more time, I can create a full history and streamline it to make quite interesting characters.

There is a myth that HERO is just a superhero game. I love that aspect of it, but you can do fantasy, cyber (like Shadowrun or Cyberpunk 2020), urban fantasy, ninjas, spies, special forces, historic fiction/fantasy, or anything else you can think of. If you want to make a game universe with it's own special rules, go for it!

Have any of you gotten the new Hero Designer (6)? I play 5th edition so I haven't sprung for it, but continue to use an older version. I think that Hero Designer is essential for creating characters because it takes the math out of HERO and leaves the creative side in. What is your take on HD6?

Has anyone played Fantasy HERO? I have several books and love the concept, but DND and Pathfinder dominate the fantasy scene so nobody wants to play Fantasy HERO with me.

I found a HERO group forum for HERO-based DC character adaptations that I thought I would share: http://www.herogames.com/forums/topic/89667-whos-who-in-the-dc-universe-5th-edition/

Some interesting HERO resources. I'd go ahead and download the info as many HERO sites are going the way of the dodo.

If you haven't gotten Hero Designer, it is here: http://www.herogames.com/forums/store/product/1-hero-designer/

This is a MUST for Champions. It contains HERO 5 and HERO 6, and also allows pdf character sheet creation. Yes, it's $25, but it is well worth the money if you are going to create HERO characters.
