Is anyone planning on going to this little NC convention? I'm going to try to run Call of Cthulhu on Friday and Saturday nights.

Here's the website:

Thank you for bringing this to light. I am new (3months) to the area and am really looking to find gamers in the Winston-Salem area. I have only helped friends prep and write for Dragon-Con in ATL. So I am not real familiar with the Con scene. But this being only about an hour away will be something to check out. Do you think it'd be worth checking out for all three days? Also, where did you find out about this? I still havn't found a place that even sells RPG books outside of the 4 at Barnes and Noble.

No problem Avikende. MACE is a very small convention (no huge convention rooms) but it's also fairly inexpensive. I went two years ago and ran a couple of games. Had a good time. Before it was MACE, I believe it was Hexacon (at least that is the con that was in the High Point/Greensboro area before MACE was around). I usually go to all days of a con (though I'll only be around Friday and Saturday this year). I know some of the people who actually run it.

A few places to look for local gamers include here and Meetup.com. For the latter, plug in your zip code and the term role playing games (or some such) and you might find local groups. The Raleigh Meetup.com group has more than 300 members at this time and it made finding gamers (and game stores) easier for me when I lived in Raleigh.

I've looked at Google maps and there really don't look like there are any game stores near Winston. Wow. That sucks. Here's the only one I could find:

the grinning gamer llc (http://maps.google.com/maps/place?cid=17814692031887891894&q=game+store+-video&hl=en&gl=us&ved=0CIIBEPoLMAQ&sa=X&ei=XNGxToCwMY3AzgTTu_C2BQ) http://maps.gstatic.com/intl/en_us/mapfiles/transparent.png

That's still a ways away. Sorry I was not of more help. If you make it to Mace, find me.

There's always Hypermind in Burlington.. a bit of a drive there, though.

Yeah, checked the store out. Seems to get some high praise. Unfortunately it's an hour and a half from me.
