Local shops - used bookstores and the like might have them. Online shops, also.

The d20 SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/index.htm), while incomplete*, is free to access. (*If I recall, it's missing things like experience charts for leveling up.)

An alternative might be Pathfinder, which is Paizo's 3E-in-print, and also has a freely-available SRD online (http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/).

Pathfinder is very similar to 3.5 ed D&D. I like the great majority of what I have seen from them and am adding quite a bit of it into my 3.5 games. Many people see it as an improvement on 3.5.

I have gotten many fine deals on auction sites like Ebay, though I hear the prices are still out of whack with the 3.5 material. It might be worth checking.

There are also sharing sites (things like limewire) where people have been known to share great volumes.

or you could just download the actual SRD for free here (click link) (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35), which contains all important content from the PHB, DMG MM1, EPsiH, Ds&Ds, Planar, Epic, and some of UA.

here is the url as well for everyone's future reference: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35

Scroll to the bottom and get the all in one download. ^^
