To answer it, Wolfgang Baur, Jeff Grubb, and Christopher Bodan led a seminar called Publishing in Kobold Quarterly at PaizoCon, where they went over a few extremely important things to keep in mind when you pitch a project to Open Design. One of the biggest things:*Be aware of copyright and intellectual property issues. Open Design cannot print an awesome adventure that revolves around mind flayers and kender.

Read three more quick tips from this seminar after the jump.

Jeff brought up that the best articles are lootable—someone reads it and says, “I could use this in my own campaign.”

If you have an idea that’s so great that a GM will be willing to flip through their rulebooks a bit, you can submit a systemless adventure.

Wolfgang has always wanted someone to query a solid historical article about druids, but no one has done it. (Hint, hint….)

Since you’re already here at the website, here’s the best tip of all: Read the submission guidelines (http://www.koboldquarterly.com/k/submit)!
