Apologies for reposting some of these - this is my first attempt at world domination thru video (http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=559617#). Here they are in all their glory, and where I shall post them from now on should anyone care. http://forum.rpg.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

my reply to tetsubo57 old school vs modern games - my worst vid (but most viewed) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wksLrUqoL3c

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDeyYYd6DYg - this one is on an alternate opposed roll mechanic

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrwP3KONMXU - this is the short one (opposed to my first one) where I get to the point in terms of why coming up with calls on the fly isn't so bad, and why inconsistency in doing so isn't all that bad either.

Now to be completely self indulgent and talk about the rules i like and why i like them

Hey man just wanted to say I thoroughly enjoy your videos and I think you should keep em up. I played 2nd Edition back in the 90's and I've been interested to see how the game worked in 1st and basic editions, and your videos give me a pretty good understanding of the game.

ah thanks!

There's actually a list of about 100 differences between core 1e and 2e floating around the web, you'd probably find it on www.dragnonsfoot.org - most of them are pretty minor. The biggest difference between 1e and 2e is all the extra stuff that got tacked onto 2e as the years went by. Basic is another animal altogether, but varies from edition to edition. Rules cyclopedia is bt far the most complex, whereas you can teach B/X to yourself in a couple of hours and start playing!

Weapons #5 - A look at how a more modern game (Pathfinder) handles weapons and proficiency, specialization, etc. Even "old school" gamers should give this a look just for comparison - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PA1aRIv0sw

Weapons #6 - Finally I compare some systems and answer a few questions I posed in the beginning of the series, specifically about what classes should be able to use what weapons, should the be proficient in them to start with, how should weapons prowess be differentiated by class, and is RC half damage or a penalty to hit a better mechanic when using a non proficient weapon? - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eQ6Gd-ohS0

Hey Ivan wanted to know if you've ever thought about doing a review of 4th edition...I know you talk a bit about Pathfinder...a system I like and of course you enjoy the basic/older editions but I'm curious of your take on the 4th edition of the game.
