What will be in the world. What elements are present. History and things to know.
Soothsayers and Diviners from the courts from several of the known sentient species became aware of a fallout of magical energy from the island of Perdita.
In an effort to not further strain relations between individual empires, Emissaries from each empire gathered together and decided that a delegation of envoys would be sent to represent the individual races as the nature of the disturbance is explored. The players are the ones chosen for this. The DM will provide additional NPC characters to fill in gaps where needed.
Presently, the world of Hi'thron is in a significant flux and state of chaos. With the recent horizon event, causing so many of the world's changes -- from deity influx to magic being on an incredible rise in power.

Also, with the major changes in thought brought on by horizon -- technology is seeing sweeping changes, with helmet flashlights and dirigibles being seen more frequently from the Dwarven traders than ever before.

It is a time of great opportunity. It is a time where the beginnings of strife is hanging like a knife at a victim's throat. This is a time for great beings to come forth and determine the future of the world.

The world of Hi'thron is a young world.

For a little backdrop understanding -- the world uses both the Western and Oriental elemental circles in descriptions of the world. This means that some cultures within the game ascribe everything to five elements (earth, fire, metal, water, and wood), while others only four (earth, air, fire, water).

Material Realm vs. Spiritual Realms. Everything in the Hi'thron world is based upon thought, feeling, and belief. Deities are powered, and indeed -- only exist as a result of shared belief. While a being may ascend to a state of god-hood; they only hold power so long as enough beings in the world continue to honor and believe in the deity. As a result, deities in this world tend to have smaller spheres of influence than in worlds such as Greyhawk. This also means that wars of religion tend to have an immediate and obvious impact on the powers of clergy and even the deities themselves.

The world is young, and as such, many areas of magic have yet to be explored. As such, mechanically there are no necromancy spells above 6th level. Additionally, much of magic is still waiting to be discovered -- with only a few of the world's key personalities hoarding the majority of the knowledge.

The whole world has been shaken by the Horizon event -- an event named after the rise of the second sun- which has heralded the dawn of a new age. So strong was the will of world itself, its every being that this new sun has risen, bringing to bear the power of the Kami, the demi-deity spirits which rule the material world. All kami are judged by the Second Sun - an Omnipresent deity with the guidance of the nine (9) Fates. These nine fates have allowed the power of thought and faith of itself to create new powers within the universe, the gods.

There are numerous deities. Deities for every feeling, every need, every thirst and desire.
