hello! the boyfriend and i just moved to bellevue from texas, and don't know a soul. we hope to find a group soon, but it's kind of scary for me to just wander into a big bunch of strangers at the comic shop. my boyfriend is willing to run a game if necessary, but we're also fine with just meeting some like-minded folk for coffee around here. i'm your stock nerd-type, spend all my time reading or playing games. on a side note, does anyone around here still play 3.5? i'm noticing a lot more 4.0 games up here, i heard nothing but bad things about it back home! am i missing out?

Welcome to P&PG and Seattle! In Redmond, the city just north of you, there is a group monthly that meets at Games & Gizmos called SeattleMOB (http://mobmuster.guildsites.org/). They mostly do 4e BUT there is a small contingent of players such as myself who play Pathfinder (http://paizo.com/store/games/roleplayingGames/p/pathfinder) (a cleaned up, streamlined version of 3.5). It's also organized play, but a great way of learning the game fast. Pick up the Core Rulebook PDF for $10 here (http://paizo.com/store/downloads/pathfinder/pathfinderRPG/v5748btpy88yj). Even if you don't end up playing, it sure is shiny!

I'd be interested in learning! My girlfriend has gamed in the past but I've only just begun to explore that area :). Played MTG for the first time ever at PAX this year and got interested in DnD but never got a chance to play. I think I'll check out Dragon's Lair soon.

I'm looking to start a new 4e group in Redmond in the coming weeks (Sept/Oct time frame). I'm new to 4e (but a long time player/GM) and want to test the system before I jump into running my homebrew world setting with it. I have a few people interested but always looking for more.

Hey Saracor, if you're looking for folks, I'd like to join as I've been looking for a 4e group. That said, if you're looking to find others to join, you're best bet is posting in the Campaign Invitation thread.

i bought the 4e players a while back and was going to give it a shot, but it kind of looks like it's geared towards a combat heavy game. i'm more a roleplay gal. but thanks for letting me know! we ended up starting a 3.5 game at my place. it's a shame to let this stack of books go to waste!

Yah, I know the feeling. It looks that way. I have some friends in CA that have moved to it and while the combat does play out more tactically, it still has as much role-playing elements as the GM wants.

I am looking for a few more to start my game (have 2-3 that will play so far, might need 2 or so more for coverage). I'll post up in the other thread as well. PM me if you want in and we can swap details.

My goal is to run a quick by the book 4e game to learn the system using published materials and then some time in beginning of next year restart with my own world, hopefully with the same players (if they like the system). I'm new to 4e and was a big 3.5 player and I like my role-plays.
