Feat 'master craftsman': what are the raw material costs of magical items ?

Hi guys,

I have a question regarding the 'master craftsman' feat.

This feat allows you to make magical items (arms and armor and wondrous items) with a Craft-skill check. in effect it allows: "ranks in your chosen skill count as your caster level for the pupose of qualifying for the Craft Magic ....Feats"

I have a question about the costs to make magocal items this way. Normally whan a Craft-skill is used, it will cost you 1/3 of the cost in raw meterial. Magical items usually cost 1/2 of the normal price in raw materials.

So when making magical items using this feat and skill; which ratio would you think applies?

I would assume you would use the 1/2 ratio as you are creating a magical item versus just a finished product.

Yes its the same as the craft magic A&A and Craft WI feats. Master Craftman doesn't those feats; it allows you to take one without meeting the spell caster level. You still need the Craft Magic A&A or Craft WI.

So 1/2 or an extra +5 to DC

I considered taking this, until I realized it is one of the lamest feats in the book. Take Leadership instead and make your cohort a spellcasting item creation specialist. One feat to solve the whole problem, even if you have an abysmal cha, you still get a decent cohort.
