Here's the scoop. I am looking to get a game of 3.5 D&D going. Looking for 4-6 players. Rules are based on 3.5 D&D, but with some homebrew rules for character generation and development. Character classes are built more than "chosen". This lends a lot of flexibility and allows for greater personalization and development of the character. Setting may be Greyhawk (I'm and old man "38"), or may be a home brew that I develop as we go along. Either way the game will be an equal mix of "roll' and "role".

What am I looking for????

1. Prospective players should be 25 years or older. Sorry, but it seems that 25 is that cutoff range where people start to become adults, have jobs, spouses, careers, reliable transportation and realize that "gaming is gaming", "life is life" and can act responsibly.

2. Power gamers, rules lawyers and general "PITA's" need not apply. (Power gamers) I like a game where people actually try to define a characters personality, and are not just a sword attached to a person. (Rules lawyers) I also have NO desire to argue with somebody over some obscure rule, or interpretation thereof. I have a job that affords me the oppurtunity to argue and be stressed all day. I feel no need to debate whether or not your PC can leap over 7 hill giants because "the book says I can". (PITA's) Do I need top explain why you are not welcome?

3. A player with an open mind and a willingness to have fun. We all play this game to have fun. Have a suggestion? Lemme know. If it works for the game, I'll listen Hell....I don't have all the answers.

4. Last but certainly not least. The Great Unwashed need not respond. Seriously, if showering is something you consider to be optional, you aint wanted. I have gamed for 25 years, and sadly, many of our brethren feel that showering is something "Normal" people do. I have no desire to have someone funk up my house. Let's leave it at that.

Some of you may have questions about me. I expect that. Ask away. Just as I am interviewing for players, you may find during discussion that you would rather slap the shit outta me than play D&D with me. LOL

Before any gaming commences, we will go somewhere, sit down, have some lunch and chat a bit. This affords both sides to meet, and see if there is a mesh. Nothing is worse than being at someones house and not wanting to be there, or worse yet, having them in your house and wanting them OUT!

I can host at my place. Games will be Saturdays or Sundays. None during the week, as I have a job that is a wee bit more important than D&D. I do have pets, so if allergies are an issue this might not work for ya. I am willing to travel up to 20 as well miles from 60154 if you would rather host.

Thanks for reading, and I hope to hear from you.

I would resent your statement about people below 25 being immature, but the truth is they usually are. I'd join, but I'm 18, so hey, I guess this is just me saying good luck.

I would be very interested in playing. The current downside is that I am looking for a job and don't know if my weekends would be available. Once I know that I will contact you as I do qualify for the type of player you are looking for.

35, father of three, living in Lyons. I don't know all the rules so can't be a lawyer, only Superman can jump 7 Hill Giants and since D&D isn't his world I don't see a halfling rogue doing it. I shower daily since I don't want my wife kicking me out of bed due to smell.
The only question is would you allow a race/class out of Dragon Magazine? I know its defunct but I have some back issues. Not a big deal either way.

I'll talk to you soon.

I have 3 players that play with me. We do have 1 player under 25 but he is very mature. I have been the GM of a group before but I am not a power gamer by any means. I do understand the rules and I like Homebrew settings. I myself am 33 with 2 kids and a family so the bi weekkly setting on weekends normally is good for me to play. I totally agree with the meeting as a group to see how things are before everyone just showing up. I do not run groups with people under 18 because of the adult rules. However I have been a little busy and not been able to keep a group going because of attendance issues from the other players not the 2 that would come with me. They are still newer to D&D only about 2 years of experiance but I have played on and off since high School and many different editions and campaign settings. I currently live in Oak Lawn area. Please get back to me if this would work with you we would love to meet up and talk about a group. Oh we are all over 21 years of age.

Sawboy, I still have me and my 2 friends that are looking for a game if you are willing to do a trial run and make sure they would fit in. I know you said you wanted like 25 and up but, a game is better than no game. Plus if you don't like them or think they are to young and immature we can just continue looking and find another group. hit me back up with a Pm and lets talk.

Have to say, wish I was a little closer to your neck of the woods, or I'd join.
I have a similar list of requests from players as well.
So I empathize and feel your pain.
It's sad that you have to remind people that common sense and hygiene are not mutually exclusive.
And even at age 25 (26 or 27) you still have immature gamers showing up to play.
If there is a sure fire method for weeding out crappy players from the good ones, I'd like to know.
Best of luck in your gaming!

I would be interested in joining if you still have room. The only real problem I can imagine running into would be the fact that I have not played since before high school. Im not sure if that is a deal breaker but feel free to send me a message in regards to this.

Did you get this game going yet? I might be able to play depending on the day and time. As I am Dm'ing a game on Sunday nights atm.
